    LEACH Beatrice Margaret
    At the Sudbury Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 1 1986, Beatrice James of Sudbury and formerly of Almonte, aged 86 years. Beloved wife of Daniel Leach and dear mother of Glenn of Duncan B.C. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, Ross, Lewis and Danny. Predeceased by brothers Ross and John and sister Maude. Friends may call at the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and where service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m., Reverend Jack Truman officiating. Interment St. Paul's Anglician Cemetery.

    Beatrice married Daniel Lorne Leach in 1934. Daniel (son of William Henry Leach and Eliza Jane Lynch) was born on 19 May 1901 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 17 Nov 1990 in Duncan, Cowichan Valley Regional District, British Columbia, Canada; was buried in St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, Almonte, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Mr. Charles James
    The death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dan Leach, Copper Cliff, Ont., on Wednesday, Dec. 16th, of Mr. Charles James, a resident of Almonte for many years. Deceased was born in the Township of Montague, near Smiths Falls, a son of the late John James and his wife Jane Atcheson. At the time of his death he was 83 years of age. While a boy his parents moved to Almonte, where they resided until 1885, from there moving to Messena, N.Y., where they remained until 1914. Mr. James later returned to Almonte and resided in this town until he moved to Sudbury and later to Copper Cliff to live with his family. The late Mrs. James predeceased him in March 1936, at Almonte. . Mr. James was a stone-mason by trade, working on many large construction contracts in the States and in the Ottawa Valley. For some years previous to his retirement Mr. James served the Almonte Board of Education very efficiently in the capacity of caretaker of the High School. He was a member of the Anglican Church. He is survived by one son, John, of Syracuse, N.Y.; two daughters Mrs. C. Leishman of Sudbury, and Mrs. D. Leach, of Copper Cliff; and two brothers, Albert, of Vancouver, B.C., and Walter, of Almonte. The remains arrived at Almonte on Friday, Dec. 17th, and the funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home on Saturday Dec. 19th, to St. Paul's Anglican Church and interment was made in St. Paul's Cemetery. Rev. R. S. V. Crossley, the rector, officiated. The Pallbearers were Mr. E, James, A. Byron, O. James, H. McLaughlin, L. James, and A. Metcalfe. Among the many floral tributes were wreaths from Continental Can. Co., and the Continental Association of Syracuse N.Y.

    Charles married Elizabeth Dolan in 1895. Elizabeth was born in 1862 in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland; died on 5 May 1936 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Kinburn, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Mrs. Charles James
    Although she had been ailing for
    some time the death of Mrs. Charles James on Thursday morning, March 5th, came as a distinct shock to her many relatives and friends in and around Almonte. The funeral, which was largely attended, was held last Saturday afternoon, from the family residence, Martin Street, to St. Paul's church where service was conducted by the rector, Rev. J . J. Lowe. The remains were placed in the Anglican vault. The pallbearers were: Walter James Hugh McLachlan, Alan Carswell, Edward James, Robert Boyd and William C. Smithson. Mrs. James, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Dolan, was born in Westport, County of Mayo, Ireland, 74 years ago, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Dolan. She came to Canada with her parents, 10 years later and settled at Almonte. Forty-one years ago, she married Charles James at Brockville and after residing at Massena, NY., for some time, Mr. and Mrs. James, in 1914, removed to Almonte. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and one son: Maud, Mrs. Clarence Leishman, Almonte; Beatrice, Mrs. Dan Leach, Carleton Place, and John of Syracuse, N.Y. A son Ross died as a result of an accident in 1917. There also survives one sister, Miss Fannie Dolan, of Almonte. Mrs. James was highly regarded by a large circle of friends who will greatly regret her passing. She was a devout member of St. Paul's Anglican Church and always took a keen interest in its welfare. Among the floral tributes were offerings from the office staff of the Continental Can Company and the Continental Can Assurance Co. of Syracuse, N. Y.; the Almonte Badminton Club and the staff and pupils of the Almonte High School, Out of town people attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Horace Dummert, Misses Betty Dummert; Carrie and Ria Dolan, Carleton Place; Mrs. Marshall Van Allan, of Perth; Mrs. Vern H. Brown and Mrs. Henry Ormond, Ottawa; Mrs. Robert Metcalfe, Pakenham ; Mr. Sam James and Mr. Earl Halpenny, Ashton; Mr. Dan Earner, Mr. Fred Earner, Mrs. Robt. Earner and Mrs. Jessie McPherson, Smiths Falls.
