    In hospital at Almonte on Friday, September 30, 1983. Orville W. Giles. Beloved husband of the late Catherine McDonald and beloved father of Desmond and Mrs. George Larocque (Frances), both of Almonte. Stepfather of Mrs. Mabel Houston and Mrs. Margaret Gilmour of Almonte. Dear brother of Mrs. Lillian Sweeney of Almonte and Milton of Carleton Place. Predeceased by three brothers, Leslie, Resford, and Lloyd and one sister Mrs. Edna Code. Also survived by nine grand children and 14 great grandchildren. Rested at the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and where service was held on Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. Ed Smith officiating. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Mrs Orville W. Giles
    Funeral services for the late Mrs Orville W. Giles who passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18th, 1965, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital were held on Tuesday, Sept 21st, 1965, at St. Mary's Church for Requiem High Mass at 9 a.m. by Father French. Born in Corkery, she was the former Catherine McDonald, daughter of the late Hugh McDonald and his wife Margaret O'Connor. Besides her husband, she had left to mourn, one son, Desmond, a daughter, Frances (Mrs George Larocque); also by a previous marriage to the late Matthew Lang, two daughters, Mabel (Mrs Alan Houston) and Margaret (Mrs Charles Gilmour); also one brother Alex McDonald of Quyon, Que., and two sisters, Margaret and Anna of Fort Erie, Ont.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Three brothers John, Hugh and Leo, are deceased. The pallbearers were Ernie Halliday of Carleton Place, Bert Simpson, Alex Spinks, James Majaury, Lloyd Giles and Andrew Meehan. Burial was in the Auld Kirk. Testifying to high esteem, among the beautiful floral offerings were those from the C.P.R., Almonte Dairy Products, Almonte Dairy Products Employees' Club, I.G.A. staff, Grenville Castings Ltd., Merrickville, Ont., and Stedman staff.

    Enoch Giles of Ramsay
    Enoch Giles, lifelong resident of the Clayton section, passed away on Sunday after a short illness. he was 71 years of age. Mr. Giles was born in Ramsay, son of the late Robert Giles and his wife Amedia Willis, pioneers of the district. Marrying Annie Moulton. Mr. Giles settled on a farm near Clayton. he was a member of the Clayton Orange Lodge. Surviving are his widow, four sons, Lloyd and Milton Giles at home, Orval Giles, of Almonte, and Resford Giles, Ramsay; two daughters, Mrs. William Cole, of McCleary and Mrs. Earl Sweeney of Marble Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Alfred Chaplin, of Glen Tay, and one brother, Elijah Giles of Ramsay. His funeral took place from his late home to St. George's Anglican church.

    Mrs. Enoch Giles
    A highly regarded resident of Lanark Township, Mrs. Enoch Giles, passed away at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Earl Sweeney, on March 13 at the age of 73. Mrs. Giles was born in Lanark Township, a daughter of the late William Moulton and his wife. Elizabeth Clark. In 1897 she married Enoch Giles, also of Lanark Township, and all her life was spent in that community. Of her immediate family, she is survived by two brothers, Herbert Moulton of Lanark Township and Thomas Moulton in the U.S.A., and one sister, Edna, Mrs. Wm. Code of Perth. Also left to mourn are four sons, Milton on the homestead; Orville of Almonte; Lloyd of Ramsay Township, Ressford of Beckwith Township; two daughters, Edna. Mrs. Wm. Code of Beckwith and Lillian, Mrs, Earl Sweeney. Largely attended by friends and relatives, the funeral was held on Friday afternoon from the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Sweeney to St. George's Cemetery, Clayton. Rev. D. F. Weegar, rector, officiated. The pallbearers were, Messrs. Bert Thompson, Eldon Ireton, Graydon Arnott, Ronald Thompson, J.A.L. Tennant and Maynard MacIntosh.

    Mrs, Robt. Giles
    A deep sense of loss is felt in the surrounding country and at distant points, where she was known, on the passing of Amelia Willis, wife of the late Robt. Giles, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.D. Chaplin, at Glen Tay. on Thursday, April 28. Mrs. Giles had been in good health during the winter up until a few days before her death. It was not known that she was seriously ill and death was unexpected it being due to heart failure. Deceased was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Keaton Willis, both natives of Ireland. Mrs. Giles was born near Carleton Place in November, 1895. Her husband predeceased her and in 1917 her eldest son, William, of Ottawa passed away. She leaves to mourn her loss four children, one daughter and three sons, Mrs. A. D. Chaplin, Glen Tay; George, of Carleton Place; Elijah, of Ramsay; and Enoch, of Lanark. The funeral was held from the residence of her daughter at ten o'clock on Saturday, April 30. The service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. H.H. Bedford Jones, and thence to St. George's cemetery, Clayton, where Rev. Mr. Bruce conducted the service, and interment was made. The pallbearers were Messrs. Enoch and Elijah, sons of deceased, Orville, Milton and Lloyd, grandchildren and A. Byrnes.
