    In hospital at Carleton Place, Ont., on Saturday, August 18, 1979, William Gordon James, in his 73rd year, beloved husband of Wilhelmena (Winnie) Dunlop; dear father, of Eleanor (Mrs. David Aldus), Charles and his wife Evelyn, and Marilyn, all of R.R. 1, Carleton Place; dear grandfather of Lisa and Shelly Aldus and Marshall and Travis James; also survived by his brothers. Warren, Perth; Frank and John E., of R.R. 2, Almonte; and his sister, Eleanor Bartlett of Carleton Place. Rested at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home. McArthur Ave., Carleton Place, until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Thence to rest at St. John's Church, Innisville, for service at 1.30 p.m. Interment St. Georges Cemetery, Clayton

    LAST TRIBUTE PAID TO LANARK TWP. FARMER
    One of the best known farmers of an older generation died at the home of his son, Frank, in Ramsay Township, Sunday, March 9th, in the person of William Edward James. He was in his 81st year and had been in ill health for some time. The late Mr. James was born on the 12th concession of Lanark Township on a farm where he lived until some four years ago when he moved to his son's home, a few miles away, where he spent his remaining years. He was a son of the late William H. James and his wife Eleanor Ennis, pioneer residents of what is known as the "James Settlement."
    Large Connection
    He is survived by his widow, the former Annie Warren, and five children, namely. Gordon and Frank of Ramsay; Warren of Arnprior, and John on the homestead, Lanark Township, and one daughter, Eleanor (Mrs. Ray Bartlett) of Toronto. There are also two brothers and two sisters; Frank of Carleton Place; Harold of Vancouver; Eleanor (Mrs. James Warren) of Balderson, and Sarah of Carleton Place. There are five grandchildren. Deceased sisters were: Emma (Mrs. R. A. Montgomery); Bertha (Mrs. W. T. Hands); Mary (Mrs. W. J. Rothwell) and Gladys. The late Mr. James was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, Clayton, and took an active part in the construction of the building 50 years ago. He was a member of the Loyal Orange Lodge being affiliated with 1367 Clayton. In politics he was an unwavering Conservative. There were many floral tributes from relatives and friends and a piece from Ihe Supertest Oil Co.
    Funeral On Tuesday
    The funeral, which was largely attended, took place from the James homestead in Lanark Twp. on Tuesday to St. George's Church, Clayton. and interment was in the Church cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. W. L. James, Herb. James, John F. James. Ben James. Alfred James, all cousins, and a brother-in-law, Thos. Warren. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. Harold James, Vancouver; Dr. J. C. Rothwell, Montreal; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Rothwell, Ottawa; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Warren, Cornwall: Miss Gertrude Bredin, Woodland; Mrs. Margaret McCleverty, Wales; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kidd, Burritt's Rapids. Mr. James was a farmer of the old school He was quite successful and in his hours of relaxation he enjoyed company. He was well known all over the district, although in later years he did not get around very much because he was plagued with asthma. But he was always the same and with his friends carried on a cheerful conversation giving no hint that at times he did not feel the best. He was the kind of man those who knew him enjoyed meeting.

    William married Annie Maria Warren.     Mrs. William E. James
    After several month's illness on Friday morning, June is, 1962, Mrs. W.E. James passed peacefully away to her eternal rest at the Almonte General Hospital in her 82nd year. Annie Maria Warren was born, at the Warren Homestead, McCreary's, on May 26fh, 1881, eldest daughter of the late William Warren and Euphenis Marshall On June 26, 1906, at St. John's Anglican church, Innisville, deceased was united in marriage to William Edward James, who predeceased her on March 9th, 1952. Mr. and Mrs. James farmed over forty years on the old homestead in the James Settlement, Lanark Township, later they retired to live with their son, Frank, in the Union Hall district To this union were born four sons and one daughter, Gordon, Frank and Eleanor (Mrs. Raymond Bartlett) all of Ramsay; Warren of Perth and John of Lanark Township. There are seven grandchildren. Also left to mourn her loss are two sisters, Miss Kate Warren, McCreary's, Elanor (Mrs. Charles Stewart) Calgary, Alberta, who was present for the funeral. Deceased brothers were John and Thomas Warren of McCreary's, and James Warren of Balderson. All her life she was a staunch member of St. George's Anglican. Church, Clayton, in the W.A., Guild and community activities. She was a loving wife and moth-er, a kind neighbour and friend and will be sadly missed. The funeral which was very largely attended took place from the Kerry Funeral Home to St. George's Church, Clayton, conducted by the rector, Rev. M.F Oldham. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. The pallbaarers were two neph-ews and four neighbours. Regin-ald Warren, Samuel Rothwell, Edgar Bowland, Kenneth Robertson. Edgar Hudson and Alfred James. The many beautiful floral tri-butes received attested to the esteem in which deceased was held. Friends and relatives attended from Calgary, Burritt's Rapids, Ottawa, Kemptville, Smiths Falls. Cobden, Perth, Stittsville, Carleton Place, Lanark, Almonte, Pak-enham, Beckwith, Drummond, Ramsay, Bathurst and Montague.

    William H. James died Monday morning at his home on the 12th concession of Lanark, in his 88th year. Deceased was a well-known resident of the township and was held in the highest esteem. He was predeceased by his wife, but is survived by two sons, William on the homestead, and Frank in the west, and three daughters
