    The death of Mr. Clifford Robertson occurred suddenly on Thursday, May 1st, while doing his regular evening's work at the Almonte General Hospital. He was 73. Born at Black's Corners in 1896, he was the last member of the family of the late James Robertson and Elizabeth Scott. He received his education in Beckwith schools. The late Mr. Robertson worked in the mills in Carleton Place and Almonte. Later becoming a mechanic, he owned and operated the business now known as Burns, Pontiac. During World War II he was an inspector of guns at Montreal, and was also a mechanic for Producers Dairy for a number of years. In 1963 he became an engineer at the Almonte General Hospital. He retired in the fall of 1966, but still remained on call should the need arise. Mr. Robertson was twice married. In 1922 he was married to the late Lena M. Watchorn, who predeceased him in 1952. In 1958 he was married to Effie (Cooper) Dunlop, who survives. He was a Past Master of Mississippi Masonic Lodge, No. 147 in 1927-28, and of Granite Chapter Royal Arch Masons No. 61. Funeral service was held at the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, on Sunday afternoon, May 4th, at 2 p.m., interment in, Auld Kirk Cemetery. Many beautiful floral tributes were received from neighbours, family, friends and organizations. Pallbearers were two nephews, Ross Shail and Robert Barclay, Carman Craig, Howard Lowe, Hugh McClymont and Millar Struthers. Owing to the arrival of Cpl. David Cooper from Germany at Uplands at 4 p.m., committal service took place in the Auld Kirk Church.

    Clifford married Lena May Watchhorn on 24 Aug 1922 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Lena (daughter of Robert Watchhorn and Elizabeth Emeline Millar) was born on 8 Dec 1889 in White Lake, McNab Township, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; died on 6 Oct 1952 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
