    Robert Earl Craig?/b?
    A former Almonte resident, Robert Earl Craig died at the Almonte General Hospital Oct 17, following a lengthy illness. He was 69. Born in Almonte April 7, 1919, he was the son of the late Ernest Craig and his wife Eleanor Lang, both of Almonte. He received his education in the Almonte area, and married the late Martha Matilda Munro on Feb 4, 1939. He had worked as a stationary engineer at the Public Hospital in Smiths Falls until ill health overtook him in 1969. He also served in the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian engineers, was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion in North Bay, Ont, and was a member of the Almonte United Church. He is survived by 11 children. They are sons, Allen and William of Arnprior, Arnold of Almonte, Howard of Pakenham, and Robert Jr. of Bancroft; and daughters Faye (Mrs Gerald Morrow) of Arnprior, Marilyn (Mrs David Reid) of St John Nfld., Beverly (Mrs Larry Guay) of Almonte, Donna (Mrs Charles Coe) and Susan (Mrs Bruce Barr) of Pakenham, and Gail of Ottawa. He was predeceased by a brother Arnold Holland Craig. Mr Craig is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. The funeral took place in the chapel of the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct 20 at 2 p.m. Rev Clifford Evans of the Almonte United Church officiated. Pallbearers were grandchildren Frank Guay, Michael Morrow, Randal Reid, Ronald Coe, Mark Barr, and Christopher Craig. Interment was at the Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Martha Matilda Craig, a native of Clayton, died suddenly at Almonte General Hospital on Oct 14, 1984. She was 60. Born in Clayton on March 27, 1924, the daughter of Edward Munro and Lillian Hankin, she was married in Almonte to Robert Earl Craig, who survives her, on April 4, 1939. Mrs Craig, a housewife, was a lifelong resident of Almonte. She is survived by sons Allen Craig and Robert Craig Jr of Nova Scotia and Arnold Craig, Howard Craig and William Craig of Almonte and by daughters Faye Morrow of Carleton Place, Marilyn Reid of St Johns, Nfld, Beverly Guay of Almonte, Donna Coe and Susan Barr of Pakenam. She is also survived by brothers Eddie of Almonte, Archie of New Westminster, BC, Gordon of Toronto and Willard of Smiths Falls. A sister, Nellie Munro. predeceased her. The funeral service was held at Gamble & Comba Funral Home on Oct 16 at 10:30 am. The service was conducted by Rev Lougheed. Interment was at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Frank Guay, Richard Coe, Michael Morrow,Willis Munro and Wayne Munro.

    Eleanor Lang, beloved wife of Mr Ernest Craig, died at the home of her son Robert, Marshall Street, Almonte on Monday, July 1st, following a short illness. She was 74 years of age. Born in Arnprior in 1883 she was a daughter of the late Matthew Lang and his wife Alice Craig. She received her education in the Arnprior and Almonte Schools, coming to Almonte when she was 12 years of age. Fifty-two years ago she married Ernest Craig of Almonte who survives along with two sons, Robert and Arnold of Almonte, One sister, Mrs Albert Evoy of Almonte also survives. Three sisters and two brothers predeceased her. She was a member of the Almonte United Church. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street on Wednesday, July 3rd with interment being made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev J. Ray Anderson, minister of the Almonte United Church conducted the service.
