- Eldon Brooks died peacefully at North Bay General Hospital on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 in his 80th year. Eldie Brooks was the beloved husband of Violet "Vi" Kidd of Powassan and the loving father of Faye Eddy Ross of Victoria, Fern Wilson Darrel of South River, Kevin Brooks Leslie of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Niki Lucas of Grand Prairie, and Trevor Brooks Karla Russell of Calgary, and proud grandfather of Meaghan and Maren Eddy, Gabe and Chase Wilson, Kyle and LeeAnn Brooks, and Autumn and Dustin Lucas. He was the dear brother of Pete Brooks of Port Loring, Ruth Cole of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Jean Brooks of Barrie. Eldie was predeceased by his brothers Edward, Leonard, Dennis and Carlton Brooks and his sisters Hazel Brooks, Sarah Culin, Ella Hampel and Mildred Kirton.

Eldon married Violet Isabella "Vi" Kidd. Violet (daughter of Mason Vernon Kidd and Janet Ann Haggart) was born on 23 Nov 1925 in Nipissing District, Ontario, Canada; died on 17 Oct 2009 in Nipissing District, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Powassan Union Cemetery, Powassan, Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada. Violet (Kidd), most recently of Empire Living Centre, and originally of Carr, was a long- time resident of Powassan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Eldon Ross Brooks (1927-2003). Vi was the loving mother of Faye Eddy (Ross) of Victoria, BC, Fern Wilson (Darrel) of South River, Kevin Brooks (Leslie) of Grand Prairie, AB, Nicolette "Niki" Lucas of Grand Prairie, AB, and Trevor Brooks (Karla) of Calgary, AB. She was the proud grandmother of Meaghan, Maren, Gabe, Chase, Kyle, Leanne, Autumn, and Dustin. Vi was the dear sister of Joyce Schmidt of Caledon and Gwen Kidd of Swastika and predeceased by her brother Denzil Kidd and sister Hilda Brooks. As Mom wanted the arrangements are immediate cremation and private graveside service followed by interment of ashes at Powassan Union Cemetery
