JAMES (JIM) ROBERT KIDD May 31, 1930 September 14, 2010 Jim passed away quietly at home after a battle with cancer at the age of 80. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gene; daughter Patti; son David; grandchildren: Kirk, Jennalee and Alyssa. Also surviving are sisters: Jean, Edith and Lois; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers John and Stuart; sisters: Marge, Isabel and most recently Marion. Jim was born in Saskatchewan, the youngest of eight remarkable close knit siblings. Trips were inevitably centered around various family weddings and get-togethers. This closeness shaped his own family. To all that knew him, he was always friendly and ready to help when needed. For his family, no sacrifice was too great. Having been raised on a farm it was inevitable that he should study agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and then spend his career with Agriculture Canada where he was a livestock specialist, based here in Winnipeg. A longtime resident of Windsor Park, he was quite active in the church, as well as various local seniors' groups where he liked to play cribbage and bridge. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. in Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Jim's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086

Obituary-
Robert Vaughan "Duke" French- Peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2000 at his residence in Dominion City, Robert Vaughan (better known as "Duke" to those that knew him) French passed away, at the age of 68 years. Duke was born in Dominion City where he spent his early years and in 1954 he enlisted and spent the next four years with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After his short stint in serving his country, Duke was employed as an accountant for various employers taking him to Northern British Columbia and the Yukon, retiring at the age of 62 years, at which time he moved back to Dominion City. Duke was well travelled, seeing much of the North and South America. He was planning a cruise which would eventually take him to Costa Rica, where he made many friends and acquaintances. In spite of his poor health, on many occasions, when the weather permitted, he was out with his friends enjoying a game of golf, a favorite pastime of his. Duke had other interests keeping him occupied. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the local craft club.
At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Dominion City United Church with Rev. Lesley Calder officiating. An internment will take place at the Dominion City Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach.
