McKIBBON One of the last of Cobden's old time merchant passed away early yesterday morning in the person of Mr. Robert J. McKibbon, age 89 years. For a great many years he conducted a shoe business in Cobden until about 12 years ago. Of Irish stock, he was born at Merrickville, Ont. The majority of his years were spent resident in this place. He was long identified with Cobden business life, only retiring from same about twelve years ago. For some time after the death of his wife about eight years ago he continued residence in their old home, but for the last three years had been living with Mr. and Mrs. Donald McLeod, just west of town. He is immediately survived by one son, Robert in Toronto; and one sister, Mrs. Fitzsimmons of Ottawa; also nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Mrs. D. A. MacKercher and Mr. George McKibbon both of Cobden are grandchildren. Two daughters and two sons are predeceased. The funeral is being held this afternoon from the home of Dr. and Mrs. MacKercher, to St. Paul's Anglican Church for service' after which internment takes place in Cobden cemetery. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. of Calgary, and also a member of the Brotherhood of Railway conductors. For a period of 38 years he conducted a Law Business in Eganville, became the confident and friend and advisor of countless Clients and eventually achieved a reputation as one of the cleverest Division Court Lawyers in Eastern Ontario. In addition to his legal duties he on occasion devoted time and talents to civic interest. He served as Reeve of Eganville and was an active participant in parliamentary contest. His ability as a platform speaker was unquestioned. A tribute to his worth and many like able qualities was the loyalty and implicit trust under all circumstances of his clientele. His impet--cey? and frankness of speech were characteristics but his intimate friends knew he was generous of heart and was quick to respond to charitable appeals. He filled a unique place in this community and with a numerous body of friends his death is most sincerely regretted. The late Mr. Lawson was born at Almonte, Nov. 6, the son of Walter and Sussanah Lawson. His early education was received at the Almonte Public and High Schools, and the deciding on the profession of Law took the higher studies in Canadian Universities. Before coming to Eganville, Mr. Lawson spent some time in Chicago and Cincinnati.In Sept. 1897 he married Margaret Foy of Eganville and of their family two sons and three daughters are living, namely Dr. Walter Lawson, and Misses Margaret and Mary of Yonkers, N.Y., William and Justine of Eganville. Mrs. Lawson died on November 18, 1913. Five years later Mr. Lawson married Lena Hein (Behnke), who survives; Mrs. Smith and Mrs. McMurtry of Quyon (Quebec) are sisters of the deceased.The Funeral was held on Wednesday morning to St James Church and cemetery with a large attendance of town people and representative citizens from Prmbroke, Killaloe and Douglas. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. I. A. French P. P., with an impressive discourse on death by Rt. Rev. Mesgre. French of Renfrew. Internment followed in St. James Cemetery; Dr. J. A. Lambertus, Messrs. Alf Smith of Quyon, Pat'k Furlong, Thomas Brongham and Wm. George.Besides the numerous spiritual offerings, flowers were received from the county of Renfrew Law Association; from Mr. and Mrs. Simpson of Ottawa, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Galligan, Mr. W.K. 10949 | Sparling, Norris Erwin Retired Air Force Peacefully in hospital surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 9, 2014 in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Doreen (nee Myers). Loving father of Joanne Swift (Dave), Audrey McGaw (Bob), Sandra (the girls) and Michael (Joan). Proud Paps to David, Megan, Robbie, Alyson, Margaret, and William. Dear brother of Edna Monahan (the late Al), The Venerable Wallace (Dawn), Hilda Pincoe (Ron) and the late Lois Bertrand (Alec). Also remembered by sisters and brother-in-law; Marnie Burton (the late Dick), Shirley Parks (Nyall), and Bud Myers (Judy) as well as many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Jessamine, Dr. Benz, Suzanne as well as his family physician for over 31 years Dr. Slat and all the caregivers who supported Norris and his family in his final days. Friends may attend a memorial service at St. John's Anglican Church, 325 Sandhill Rd., Kanata on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception.
