11269 | Veldon H. Saul, known to his many friends as "Pep", passed away in Douglas on November 2 following a heart attack. Mr. Saul was born on the Saul Ranch south of Douglas. He attended the University of Woming and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He also was a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 10, A.F.& A.M., and Woodbine Chapter No. 18, Order of the Eastern Star. He and his wife served as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of Woodbine in 1958. Mr. Saul served on the city council for twelve years, and for 29 years -- from 1926 to 1955, was Fire Chief of the Douglas Fire Department. He owned and operated a hardware and jewelry business in Douglas, and had been associated in this business with his father, W. A. Saul, until his father's death in 1947. Since that time Pep continued the hardware store known as the Saul Company. He continued to add to his father's gun collection and it is considered to be one of the finest in the west. He is survived by his widow, Juliana Saul; a son, Richard Saul; sister, Vera Saul Trumper, and brother, Vernon W. Saul, of Marysville, California. 11270 | Vera Patricia Trumper Murray died on Oct. 15, 2007 after a long battle with lung disease. She graduated school in Douglas and attended the University of Wyoming. Later she moved to California and worked at North American Airlines building airplanes during World War II. There she met M. J. "Murph" Murray and they were married on May 4, 1943 in Yuma, Arizona. She returned to Douglas and worked at the POW Camp and awaited Murph's return from the Air Force. Pat and Murph made their home in and around Wyoming where Murph worked for different drilling companies. Then they started Murray Drilling Service, which they operated together until their retirement. They turned the company over to their daughter Kay and her husband Rob Bourquin. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Kay Bourquin and her husband Rob of Casper; brother O'Donell Trumper, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren James Bourquin and Veronica Bourquin Hancock and her husband K. C.; great-grandchildren Taylor Bourquin and Shelbee, Bradlee and Mckaylee Hancock. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Murph. 11271 | Vera Saul Trumper, age 90, died Sunday, May 21, 1989 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Willard A. and Emma S. (Gibson) Saul. She moved to Wyoming with her parents and two brothers in 1901, and they lived on ranches on LaBonte Creek and Owl Creek south of Douglas. She was reared and educated in Converse County, graduating from the Converse County High School. She attended Ferry Hall College in Chicago. She worked for the Maurer & Garst law firm for several years. She then worked as a secretary for Morton, Inc. for many years, retiring from that job in the late 1970s. She has resided in Douglas during her retirement years. She is survived by one son, O'Donnell Trumper of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Patty Murray of Casper; four grandchildren, Kay Bourquin of Casper, and Kelly, Michael and Colleen Trumper, all of Tucson; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vernon and Veldon Saul. He was the beloved husband of Louise Crossley. He leaves to mourn his mother Mary (Winslow-Spragge) Duclos, his only son Ryan Charles Duclos, his brother Brian (Denise Brown), his sister Lorraine, his nieces Samantha (Mark) Stephens and Amanda Bongiovanni-Duclos, and his many cousins and friends. He will also be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law Irene Ferland (Crossley). The children of Louise Crossley: Johanne (Jean-Fran?ois Lapierre), Jocelyn (Martine Lussier), Sebastien and grandchildren Florence, Oceane, Yan-Simon, Melia and Alexia. Victor is the son of the late Charles Duncan and Mary Lois Duclos of Hudson. His brother, Christopher, predeceased him. He was an employee of Bombardier for 33 years and retired March 2014. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for the last year. Victor was a special person much loved by his family and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday, September 6 at Yves Legare, 1350 Autoroute 13, Laval. She was born January 17, 1939, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Charlie V. and Beulah A. Hardin Cooper. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Treadway, from Fulton, Missouri in 2007, and a daughter, Uyvonna Cantrell, from Flatgap, Kentucky, in 2003. Vileta is survived by her husband, Paul M. Williamson, whom she wed June 30, 1972; one daughter, Lorita Sublett and husband Michael of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Gary L. Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Staffordsville, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Linda L. Althiser of Fulton, Missouri, and Nellie Whitt of West Liberty, Kentucky, and one brother, Charles Ray Cooper of Fulton, Missouri. While residing in Fulton, Missouri, Vileta was floor supervisor in a shoe factory; supervisor of housekeeping at the Fulton State Hospital, and founded and served as manager of Sheltered Workshop, an organization that provided business opportunities for the disabled. She and Paul moved to Morehead in 1988 from Fulton. Vileta enjoyed flowers, gardening, and going to yard sales. Florence Virgin (nee Kellough) of Almonte, age 89 years. Beloved wife and best friend for 64 years of John L. "Jack" Virgin. Much loved and respected mother Paul (Rhonda), David (Kathryn) and Mark (Ivan). Loved Grandma of Sean (Laurie Dalton), Kyle (Kristina Myers), Blake (Leslie), Jamieson (Amanda), Matthew (Rebecca Reinhart), Rebecca Littau (late Dustin), Bradley (Yael Wexler), and Kelly Riggs (Christopher). Loving Great-grandmother to Sophia, Brianna, Grayson, Mackenzie & Clara. Florence was the daughter of the late Victor & Gladys Kellough and is survived by her sisters; Jean King (late Douglas), Cynthia Stuart (Harold) and Carol James (Ronald). She is also survived by many loved nieces & nephews and their families. Florence was a proud graduate of the Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1952. She nursed at the Old Almonte General Hospital before joining her husband as a partner in J. L. Virgin Insurance, a successful local general insurance firm until retiring in 1993. Florence was an active volunteer serving on many church and community committees and boards but was especially proud of her time on the Almonte General Hospital Board and the T V Ontario board. She was a long time member of the I.O.D.E., Captain Hooper Chapter. Florence enjoyed many treasured days and nights at their cottage on White Lake in the company of her family and many friends. Florence's family would like to thank Dr. Graeme McKillop and Dr. Susie Quackenbush and especially the Old Mill staff at Fairview Manor for their exceptional compassionate care and love during her time there and most especially in her final days. Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of Mrs. Russell Corkum and the late Russell Corkum. She was a former employee of Radio Station CKBW, Bridgewater, for 25 years, and a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Surviving besides her mother is her husband, Kenneth; and a son, David, Halifax; three brothers, Vincent, Gardiner, and Robert; and two grandchildren, Shawn and Christopher. The body was cremated and a private family committal service was held, 3 p.m. Friday, October 24th, in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. He is survived by his sister, Jean at home, Aileen and husband Henry Smith of Woodmore, his brother Chester and his wife Dorothy of Dominion City; two nieces, three nephews, cousins and friends. Lloyd was in the 12th. Manitoba Dragoons and overseas in World War 2. He had been a member of the Legion since 1946. He quit farming at Woodmore and Dominion City in 1966 and worked at Versatile Manufacturing for five years. The funeral service was at Dominion City United Church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Burial in the local cemetery. The pallbearers were Lorne and Hugh Lamont, Bruce Dickson, Glenn, Don, and Dave Stewart. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to the Lung Association if desired. Thompson's Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
