2382 | 1997, Friday May 21, The Almonte Gazette page 8 ?b?DEATH'S HARVEST Mrs. Jas Lang?/b? Death, in severing the life-cord which bound to the earth the spirit of Mrs Jas Lang, called away one who, though of a quiet and retiring disposition, endeared herself to those who knew her - and those who knew her best esteemed her the most. She was born in Johnston, Renfrewshire, Scotland, and came to this country with her father, the late Andrew Smith, about fourty-four or forty-five years ago. After her marriage she became a resident of Almonte, where she lived until last fall, when she went to Rochester to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs R. Bruce. On Tuesdasy evening of last week she returned to town, and spent the night at Mr Wm C Warren's with whose family she was on intimate terms. In the morning as she was leaving the house she was overcome with an attack of faintness and subsequently inflamation of the stomach developed. The painful disease quickly sapped her strength, and early on Friday morning she secured release from her suffering in death. Her daughters, Mrs W.R Campbell and Miss Millie, reached her from Montreal just a few hours before her death, and on Saturday, her son Andrew, from Batavia, N.Y and her daughter Mrs R. Bruce, from Rochester N.Y., arrived to join in the sad duty of consigning to their last resting place the remains of a loving and much loved mother, which were laid beside her own mother in the eighth line cemetery. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, and was largely attended. the sad occurrence has called forth much sympathy for the bereaved family.
