The recent cold map in the land of the Everglades was responsible for the death of the late Albert Bolter, Esq., of Fort Coulonge, who had gone with his wife to St. Augustine for the benefit of their health. Mr. Bolter was suffering from a cold when pneumonia developed quickly, and he died suddenly on March 1st. The late Mr. Bolter, of Messrs. Silverman, Bolter & Co. of Montreal. He was 51 years of age. The remains were brought to the city yesterday on the Canadian Atlantic from New York and taken to Fort Coulonge on a special train. The funeral takes place to-morrow. Mrs. Bolter is a daughter of the late Hon. Geo. Bryson of Coulonge.

Mr Donald Frederick (Don) Clapp, beloved husband of Elsie Penman, passed away suddenly at his home at R.R. 2 Carp on Monday, June 11th, in his thirty-fourth year. Born in Hasting County on September 21st, 1945, he was the son of the late Everett M. Clapp and Florence M. Hale. He received his early education in Trenton area schools and later moved of the Ottawa Valley. At the time of his death he was the Branch Manage of Collision Appraisal Services Ltd. in Ottawa. On May 9th, 1970, he married Elsie Penman. For the last six years Don and Elsie have resided at R.R. 2 Carp. He was a member of St Paul's United Church, Carp. Don will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Elsie. Also mourning his loss are his mother, Mrs Everett Clapp of Trenton; a brother, Edward of R.R. 4 Stirling and sisters Mrs Frank Paul (Eleanor) of Almonte and Beverley of Toronto. Funeral services were conducted at Almonte United Church, Thursday, June 14th, at 2 pm. with Rev Robert McCrea and Rev Frank Stiles officiating. Interment was in Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Keith Lowry, Doug Penman, Guy Savoie, William O'Brien Wayne S. Hillaire and Dave McEwen.

SWIFT CURRENT. - St. Andrews Presbyterian church povided the setting for a pretty wedding ceremony on Friday, July 4, when Ionia Gwendolyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Forsythe, became the bride of Donald Mackenzie Barr, Regina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barr, Milden. Rev. C. Younger-Lewls officiated. The church was decorated with potted plants, ferns, and flowers and white bows marked oft the guest pews. To the strains of the bridal chorus from Lohengrin played by Mrs, Allan J. Cameron, Ottawa, aunt of the bride, the bride entered the church with her father. She was gowned in white triple sheer, her white chapel veil falling from a pleated Mary Queen of Scots tiara. She carried a bouquet of Joanna Hill roses. Miss Eleanor Forsythe, bridesmaid, wore a gown of pink double net over taffeta with pale blue trimming. and carried a bouquet of carnations. Stuart McBean was best man and Cameron Mackay and Harold McMahon were ushers. Mrs. J. M. Ritchie, Ottawa, sister of the bride, sang O Promise Me and a double trio consisting of Misses Margaret Phiip, Doreen Clements, Alwyne Kane, Kathleen James, Betty Phiip and Helen Scobie rendered "I Love Thee".

A reception was held at the home of the brides parents. The bride's table was daintily appointed with a cutwork and lace cloth and centred by a tiered cake. Smilax interwound with sweet peas extended from the centre of the table to the corners, and tall white tapers completed the setting. Mrs. J. Forsythe and Mrs. J. R. Hutchison presided and Mrs. W. A. Moore and Mrs. B. Wiseman cut the ices. Serving were Misses Margaret Philp, Betty Philp, Doreen Clements, Alwyne Kane, Kathleen James, Helen Scobie, Pauline Koslick, Jean Young, Phyllis Longmore, Phyllis Hutchinson, Helen Shields, Bernice Downing Mary Castagner, Rita Ewert and Mrs. Glenn Downing. Toast to the bride was proposed by Harold McMahon.

The bridal couple left by motor for Regina. They will live at 2304 Regina avenue. For travelling the bride wore a grey and blue ensemble with corsage of pink roses. 2758 ?b?Dorothy D. McMunn (Harrison),?/b? aged 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, at The Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior.

From her birth in Elgin, New Brunswick, until her passing, she provided those around her with love, light, and laughter.

Born to Arthur and Pearle (Mersereau) Harrison, Dorothy was one of nine children that grew up enjoying all the wonderful things Elgin had to offer. Upon moving to Ontario and settling in Stittsville, she pursued a career as a secretary, with her most notable position being the secretary to the Chief Commanding Officer at the Diefenbunker in Carp. Alongside her career, she enjoyed listening to live music, gardening, puzzles, family get-togethers (usually involving a passionate game of Scrabble), singing, and playing music?particularly the bass for the Country Cousins.

Dorothy is predeceased by her eldest son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law, Gillian. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Clayton and Vernon, her sisters Bernice and Beryl, and her former husband, Ron McMunn.

Interment The Elgin Baptist Cemetery, where Dorothy will be laid to rest

Surrounded by the loving presence of her family, as the result of a series of falls and most recently a fractured hip, Lois Frances Booth Roe passed away in the Queensway Carleton Hospital on May 14, 2017, in her 94th year. Adored wife for 67 years of the late Russell (2011), the love of her life, whom she has missed each and every day. Caring daughter of the late Ernest Roe and Ruby Mulligan ? the third of their ten children. Forever loved, appreciated and now deeply missed Mother of Elvyn (late Arlene), Linda (Lothar Klimpel), Joan (Jim Bradley), Laurie (Rick Beerens) and Joyce (Brian Vent). Cherished Granny to six grandchildren who gave her much joy and laughter - Mark (Casey) and Cory (Lindsay) Bradley; Tania (Ryan) and Caitlin Ardley; Caleigh and Tahra Flegg. Very special and fun-loving "GG" of Jack and Kendall Bradley and Olivia and Cohen Larocque, who brought her pure pleasure. We are so grateful for her life and her legacy. Funeral services were held at Vancouver for Dr. George Edward Kidd, 65, orthopedic surgeon in Vancouver since 1922, who died after a six-month illness.

Interested in physical anthropology, Dr. Kidd had done research work on prehistoric, and modern Indians on the Pacific Coast and for work on the Marpole Midden was named Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute. He also was a Fellow of the American Geographical Society.

He was past president of the Vancouver Arts and Historical Saciety and was an authority on Egyptology, in which he became interested during the First World War when he served there in the Army Medical Corps. He presented a mummy he discovered to the Vancouver Museum.

He was born in "The Derry" a small community near Carleton Place, the son of the late Joseph Kidd and his wife Mary McDiar-mid.

He attended Carleton Place and Kemptvlle high schools. Graduate of Queen's University in Arts and Medicine, Dr. Kidd was professor there for three years until 1914. Oversea; he won the Military Cross and was mentioned in dispatches. He returned to Canada with a lieutenant colonel's rank.

He resumed his Queen's professorship, but resigned to do post-graduate work in Edinburgh, London and Liverpool. Earlier he had studied in Germany. He came to Vancouver in 1922, after being made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr. Kidd compiled a history of the Vancouver Medical Association and was author of the history of the school district of Derry, County Lanark, Ont. He also was past master of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge of Vancouver.

Members of St. John Ambulance Brigade, of which he was a life member, formed an honor guard at the funeral, conducted by Rev. E. D. Braden, D.D., at Nunn and Thompson Chapel. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

He was married in 1913 to Miss Lulu Hastey of Ottawa, who passed away in 1941. Surviving are two brothers. James of Nokomis, Sask., Livingstone, of Carleton Place. Ont., and two sisters. Margaret and Elizabeth of Carleton Place.

?/b?Word has been received here of the death in Edmonton, alberta, of Dr. W. J. Simpson. A native of Ashton, Ontario, Dr. Simpson died on Thursday following a long illness.
A graduate in medicine from Queen's University, Dr. Simpson had taught school in Richmond and Munster, Ontario. Following has graduation he moved to Alberta where he practiced. He was married to the former Hattie Hill, who predeceased him several years ago. He is survived by two daughters and a son who reside in the west.
Also surviveing are three sisters, Mrs. C. B. Morton and Mrs. M Archie Atkinson of Ottawa, and Mrs John Fleming of Ashton; three brothers, Fred, of Milton West, Ont., Murray and Lett Simpson, who reside in the West.

James Foot, officiated at the marriage of Miss Margery Kathleen Drummond. only daughter of Mr. and Mrs J. R. Drummond. and Mr. James Edgar Drynan, -all of Carleton Place, and son of Mr. W. J. Drynan and the late Mrs. Drynan, of Clayton.
The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Drummond, brother and sister-in-law of the bride.
The young bride wore a smart street length two-piece dress of navy blue crepe buttoned down the back with white trim, square neckline, bracelet length sleeves and full skirt. She wore a navy blue hat with accessories in matching tone and her corsage was of Briar-cliffe roses and fern.
Mr. and Mrs. Drynan left im mediately following the ceremony on a motor trip to Montreal and other Eastern points, the bride travelling in her wedding costume with tweed coat.
On their return they will take up residence in their new home on Beckwith street.

It is with great sadness that Willis's family announces his sudden passing on September 23, 1998. Willis is predeceased by his parents and brother Johns. He is survived by his wife Grace, his partner and friend of 60 years; sister-in-law Edna, brother Jim Duncan and sister Mary Duncan; three children: William Duncan, Douglas Duncan and Carole Splett and husband Edward; seven grandchildren: Marquita, Jana, Chad and his wife Christina Duncan; Michael, David and his wife Brenda-Jayne, Douglas, Andrea Splett and fiancee Darroch Cairns; one great-grandchild Kimberly and a host of friends who will greatly miss him. An early spring wedding took piace in Almonte on Saturday afternoon afternoon at five o'clock at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C. Ross MacDoweli, when Miss Alma Efhel Williams daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Williams Solsgirth Manitoba, became the bride of Mr.Robert Alexander (Bert) Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Young. "Braehead". Almonte. Rev. C. D. McLellan, minister of Bethany United church, officiated.
The bride was given in marriage by Dr. MacDowell and wore a dusky pink taffeta gown fashioned with a jacket. She wore a Juliet cap to match styled with a . shoulder length veil and carried Calla lilies.
Miss Jeanne young sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and was wearing a navy blue printed chiffon over taffeta frock with which she wore a large navy blue straw hat and she carried spring blooms.
Mr. Morley Alexander, cousin of the groom, was best man. High tea was served following ffhe ceremony and later Mr. Young and his bride left on their wedding trip to Syracuse, Geneva and other American points. For travelling the bride wore a dark muskrat swagger coat over a pretty hunter green crepe frock and her I hat was a Breton sailor. On their return they will reside in Almonte.

Edna had a wonderful life filled with love and many good times. She died peacefully at the Almonte General Hospital with her family by her side. Edna was predeceased by her husband John (1986) and was the daughter of the late Jack (1961) and Annie (1978) Lowe. She was a loving mother of Ken (Judy), Keith (2016), and Deb (Ken 2017) Donoghue. She was a proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Edna was the last of 9 children in her family; Elva and Eric Munro, Jean and Dalton Jelly, Roy and Isabel Lowe, Earl and Kay Lowe, Gladys and Russell Manchester, Doris and Alfred Axford, Hilda Lowe; and Elsie and Murray Campbell. Edna was also predeceased by her very good friend Don Carruthers (2020) and is survived by sister-in-law Wanda (Arnie) McNeely. Edna was happy to have a god-daughter, Valerie Argue. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Proud grandfather to Daryll (Jenessa), Deanna (Duncan), Tina, Mitchell (Brianna), Jodi, Emily (Gareth), Mikayla and Chloe (and their Dad Bob). Great-grandfather to Laska, Eden, Haylyn, Willow, Ivy, Raine, Rogan and Ash. He will be fondly remembered by many friends.

Emily Anna Tripp (Davis) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2020, in her 98th year with her husband of 73 years and best friend Mervyn by her side. Loving mother of Bob (Jackie Bradley-Tripp), Dave (Joan O'Connell), Bill (Marilyn Barr), and Janice (Art Goldsmith). Proud grandma of Robbie and Sarah (Jean) Tripp; Matthew, Emma (Costa) and Justin Tripp; Aaron (Amanda), Thomas and Ilana (Pete) Goldsmith. Proud great-grandma of Dylan and Lachlan Tripp, and Meadow Belanger. Emily is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Davis (Robert) and will be remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews. Born November 30, 1922, to Isaac and Margaret (nee Dixon) Davis, Emily was the tenth of eleven children. She was predeceased by her siblings Ada Younghusband (Joe), Dorothy Kedey (Ernie), Doug (Helen), William (Helen), (Aubrey), Frances Downey (Reg), Ethel, Ralph (Marjorie), Adelaide Carry (Selwyn), Robert (Helen), and Helen Wilson (Gerald). Emily is also predeceased by her sisters and brothers in-law Mary (nee Tripp) and Mel Weatherall, and Doris (nee Tripp) and Edwin McKirdy. Emily was athletic and loved sports, especially her Blue Jays. A talented musician, she loved music, listening or dancing to it and most of all, playing. A nurse, farmer, volunteer, good neighbour, baker, excellent cook, craftsperson (knitting, sewing, quilting) and homemaker ? she excelled at pretty much everything she tried. She thrived in her church and her community. She was warm, real and lots of fun. Special thanks to all the caring staff at Almonte Country Haven.

District people suffered a shock Wednesday on receiving news of the death of Frederick Ralph LaFountain, better known over a vast district and to many friends as Fred LaFountain. Mr. LaFountain was attending to his duties at the Saskatchewan Pool elevator Tuesday and suffered an apoplectic stroke from which he never regained consciousness until his death Wednesday. He was born in Coleman, S.D., Feb. 28, 1885. For a short time he worked with the Great Northern Railway as trainman and came to Canada in 1908. homesteading in the Keeler district where he married Alma Fu-merton. From this union two children were born. Dorothy and Lloyd. Mrs. LaFountain died in 1912 and he returned to U.S.A. In 1914 he married Minnie C. Weyer and he and his wife returned to Canada in 1915, homesteading in the Meyronne district until he was appointed agent for Ogilvie elevator in 1917 where he remained until 1921. He went to the Pioneer elevator in 1923. He entered a partnership in an independent elevator with Rube Led-iey, this being given up in 1925, and he went to the Reliance Grain Co. and was their agent until coming to McCord for the Saskatchewan Pool elevators in 1929. He acted in this capacity and farmed until his death. His host of friends paid their last respects at the funeral. Besides his wife, Mr. LaFountain leaves five daughters, Mrs. H. Anderson, Mrs. Arthur Peterson, Regina; Mrs. Walter Payne, j Medicine Hat; Catherine and Una at home: three sons, Lloyd of Glentworth; Ralph and Lewis at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Judd, Walla Walla, Wash., and Miss Co-lema LaFountain, Lebanon, Ore.; four brothers, Chester of St. Paul, Minn.; Walter, Lloyd and Dale of Portland, Ore.

Loving father of Jennifer and her husband Brett Gibson and Bruce and his wife Alyson Findlay. Treasured grandpa Lake (or Poppa) of Rachel, Tori, Laura and Jeffrey. Survived by his sister Anne Jennifer Richardson. Dan will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by family, friends and by all who knew him. The family will receive friends and relatives at the J.S. Florence Grace Thompson, age 87 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19. 2005, at Parkridge Centre. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Ruthven David; sons. Wayne (Eleanor), Robert (Sherry) and David (Susan); grandchildren, Joanne, Kevin, Kelly, Pamela, Paula, Dylan, Jennifer, Janls, Heather, and Courtney; great grandchild, Nevaeh; brothers, Harold, Lawrence and Howard Butler. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Janet Butler; sisters, Gertrude, Janet, and Pearl; brothers, Arthur, Clarence, and Kenneth. This kind and gentle lady, who was a loving and caring wife and mother, always had nice words and thoughts about everyone. Florence was born on May 13, 1918 at Bladworth, SK. She loved her career as an elementary school teacher and superannuated from teaching at 65 years of age, She had a passion for music ana took pride In having her students perform m school pageants and at music festivals. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at the Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive). Interment to follow at Kenaston Cemetery, Kenaston, SK.
