3101 | ?b?Obituary of Claire Symington ?/b? June 18, 1937 - January 26, 2022 With great sadness, the family announce that Claire Peter Symington passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years Faye (Wagenblass) Symington and his sons: Rod (Donna) Symington and Paul (Alanna) Symington. Claire will also be lovingly remembered by his 4 precious granddaughters: Leah, Deanna, Madison and Sarah. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Alec and Jean Symington and brother Donald and sister-in-law Doris. Claire was born and raised on the family farm in Almonte. He moved to Arnprior in 1950 with his parents and was the devoted ESSO Agent for Arnprior and area residents from 1954 to 1993 and then he discovered that selling cars for someone else was a 9-5 job, when he felt like it. Throughout his life Claire enjoyed hunting and time spent with family and friends boating on the Ottawa River, pulling up to shore at Pontiac Beach and cruising the Rideau Canal through the Waterway on to Georgian Bay. He would say "Of course, the best thing to do is to travel the Rideau either way". Claire's retirement was spent enjoying the outdoors and touring in his red pick-up truck with the Dog. He will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, keen interest in the lives of others and his ability to spark a friendly conversation with anyone he met. Claire's arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. At Claire's request, a private interment is being planned for immediate family at Arnprior Albert Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. | Symington, Clarie Peter (I9134)

3102 | ?b?Obituary of Dennis Jackson?/b? Dennis Alfred Jackson December 17, 1951 - April 19, 2022 With very deep sadness we said goodbye to our beloved Dennis on April 19, 2022. He left this world surrounded by the love and support of his family. Adored and adoring husband of Dorothy (n?e Cochran) his wife (and 'girlfriend') of 32 years. Loving father of David (Joanne), Derek (Veronica), Debra (Hyunsu) and loving stepfather of Kelly (Jeff). Proud 'Poppy' of Taylor, Russell, Jordyn, Anika, Alexis, Tristan, Rylee, Liv and Amaya. Devoted and proud son of Marcelle Jackson. Dear oldest brother of Gary (Mary), Diana (Ernie), Richard, Kathleen (Victor), James (Beverley) and Glenn (Heather). Pre-decesased by brothers John and Robert and father John. Dennis was a kind and gentle man who worked hard and loved the life he lived to the fullest? always on the 'Top Shelf'. From his early days as President of the Students' Council for Algonquin, the first bilingual High School in Canada he was destined to be a leader. His accomplishments were many. From completing his MBA while working full-time as a District Vice-President with Scotiabank to supporting so many local charities with his time and resources. Dennis enjoyed coaching and mentoring many bankers over the years. After 43 years he retired from Scotiabank in 2012 and became Chair of United Way Canada and later went on to chair Volunteer Ottawa. Over the years he worked tirelessly on many boards including Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Youville Centre, St Joe's Women's Centre, Ride for Dad, Sprott Business School and Youth Services Bureau. He received many awards including Quality of Life, United Way Community Volunteer of the Year, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and Senate of Canada Medal in recognition of his community service. Dennis was affectionately known as 'Mister Saturday Night'. He loved to have fun and he created much of the fun himself. He especially loved to play hockey with his friends ? learning to play for the first time at the age of 58. Some of his other passions were skiing, motorcycling, cycling, 'live' music, good food and wine? and especially his nine precious grandchildren. Dennis loved his family and friends and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them, celebrate with them, travel with them or just sit on the deck and talk with them. He cared deeply and listened intently and made everyone feel special. He was the most perfect partner, husband and best friend to Dorothy and their love for each other remained 'ageless and evergreen'. Although the past three years have been challenging and painful, Dennis moved forward with courage, positivity and grace, facing every obstacle and fighting cancer to the end. You may pay your last respects to Dennis at a Visitation to be held on Tuesday, May 3rd from 3 pm to 7 pm at NeXT, 6400 Hazeldean Rd. in Stittsville. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of the charities Dennis supported or a charity of your choice. We would like to thank Drs. Spacek, Vickers, Awan, El Sayed, Gaudet and Naik, as well as special caregivers Irene, Cathy, Johnson and Linda. A Celebration of Dennis' Amazing Life will be held at a later date. We will love him and miss him forever. | Jackson, Dennis (I20915)

3115 | ?b?Oliver Guimond Jr.?/b? Actor, Mime and Comedian. He was born in Montreal on May 21st, 1914, to vaudevillian parents Effie MacDonald and Olivier Guimond Sr. At the age of 7, he was placed in the Mont-Saint-Louis foster home until the age of 16. Later on, he quickly became known in the cabaret scenes of Montreal but it wasn't until 1958 that he became the most popular Qu?becois comedian. With the help of fellow comedian Jean Grimaldi, Olivier's career was launched and in that same year, producer No?l Gauvin hired Olivier whom later became the major star of the popular variety show called "Music-Hall" aired at the time by Radio-Canada. When the T?l?-M?tropole TV station opened in 1961, he interpreted the role of "Cr? Basile." This series highly influenced a commercial ad for the Labatt brewery (Labatt 50 beer) where the new slogan "Lui, il conna?t ?a!" [that guy knows what he's talking about!] emerged and became popular for the brewery company. He also acted in numerous series, such as "Le Zoo du Capitaine Bonhomme," "La Branche d'Olivier," "Smash" and small operettas such as "Les Trois valses" and "La Vie Parisienne." For his inept aptitudes, comical expressions and his extraordinary subtleness, he was widely compared to as the Canadian version of Charlie Chaplin. Olivier has been immortalized with the creation of an "Oscar" type of trophy that is awarded to Quebec humorists and is befittingly called l'Olivier. | Guimond, Olivier (I38483)
