Duncan formerly of that town, and a son of Mr. J. Duncan, who is leaving Merrickville to enter into a drug business with Mr. W. Rae, in Regina. The service was conducted in Trinity church by Rev. Mr. Houston, in the presence of a large audience of friends and relatives. The bride was Miss Jennie Jakes, daughter of Mr. S. Jakes, a respected resident of Merrickville. 5864 | Duncan Campbell, former employe of the Public Works Department, and active and life member of the Chuadiere Lodge, A.F. and A.M., died suddenly this morning at his home, 153 Greenfield avenue, in his 83rd year. Mr. Campbell died only 24 hours after his sister, Mrs. Archibald Barrie, who passed away at her home, 113 Waverly street, on Sunday. Mrs. Barrie was in her 85th year. Mr. Campbell entered the Public Works Department in 1914 and had been employed there until March of 1932 when he retired. Before entering the civil service, he had worked as a car shop foreman for the Canada Atlantic Railway and later the Grand Trunk Railway. After his marriage in December, 1893, to the former Isabella Fisher, he engaged in farming for two years. He came to Ottawa in 1895 and had lived here since. Well known and highly respected in various circles of the Capital, especially among Masonic organizations and the congregation of Knox Presbyterian church of which he was a member for many years, Mr. Campbell's death will occasion profound regret. He was born in Franktown, Ont., the son of the late Archibald Campbell and his wife Sarah Gillies. Surviving in addition to his wife, are one son, F. Keith Campbell, Ottawa; one brother, Frank Campbell, Smiths Falls; and one sister, Mrs. Henry Armstrong, Elmsley, Ont. One grandchild also survives. The funeral service will be held at the parlors of Hulse and Playfair, Ltd., 315 McLeod street, on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Robert Johnston of Knox church will officiate. He did not return from overseas until January of 1946. He was a brother of Harold, Gilbert, John, Clifford, Bill, Effie Stewart, Andrew, Hugh and Mary Power. He was very interested in other cultures. He was an electrician by trade. He was born in Canada, but became a naturalized citizen of the United States. 5893 | E.L. "Nif" Sullivan died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Boise, Idaho May 22, 1925, the youngest child of Willis E. Sullivan and Helen T. Sullivan. His father had nicknamed him Nifty Ed, but his youngest sister unable to say all of that, shortened it to Nif. Nif graduated from Boise High School in 1943, and entered the service in September as an aviation cadet. He executed his right to release in 1945 and returned to Boise. He entered Stanford University in the winter of 1946, and transferred to Wharton School of Business, a branch of the University of Pennsylvania. While attending school he pledged Sigma Chi, and worked at the Franklin Institute planetarium. Nif graduated in 1949 with degrees in insurance and accounting. Returning to Boise his first business adventure with E.G. Day and Company was to develop the Cherry Lane neighborhood. In 1955 he joined National Cash Register obtaining experience in sales. He joined Continental Life Insurance while P.G. Batt was president in 1956 as salesman in the life insurance department. Nif helped form the Life and Accidental policy for State of Idaho employees in 1957. In 1960 he joined Campbell & Company as an independent agent, head of the life and group department. He retired in 1981. Other business adventures included investing in The Idaho Candy Company and Statewide Stores with long time friends. While attending Wharton School, he married Shirley Purcell from Boise and together had four children, Braden Kip (Sandy) Sullivan, Cindy (Tony) Maher, Brett Sullivan, and Mark Sullivan. Nif and Shirley were divorced in 1969. In 1977 he married Suzanne Code Hudelson and she has four children, Mikel (John) Ward, Midge (Jay) Moore, Chris (David) Green, and Tony (Clarice) Hudelson. Nif and Suzanne had a wonderful time traveling the world and experiencing many interesting sights. They loved to entertain their friends, and one of Nif s favorite past times was eating the many magnificent meals Sue cooked for him. Nif was a man of life and laughter and had many long time friends. He loved interacting with people, and thoroughly enjoyed fly-fishing at Silver Creek, hunting, tennis, and golf. He helped in the founding of the Boise Swim and Racquet Club, and served on the building and funding committees for All Saints Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Arid Club. Nif was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Willis Sullivan II; his sisters, Helen Wells; and Marion Fletcher; his nephew Willis Sullivan III; and grandchildren Shannon Murphy; and Nick Maher. His 4 children, Suzanne and her 4 children, 13 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren survive him. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at All Saints Episcopal Church, located at 704 S. Latah, under the direction of Summers Funeral Home. 5894 | E.L. Jackson, Native Son, Dies Edgar Lyle Jackson, 1921 8th St. S.W., a native son of Calgary, died this morning in Colonel Belcher hospital. He was the son of the late Thomas E. Jackson who came west in 1882 and homesteaded near Calgary in what is now the Killarney district. Mr. Jackson farmed six miles west of Calgary in "Jackson's Valley" from 1922 to 1935 at which time he moved to Calgary. Employed by the Calgary Transit System as a bus driver until the time of his death, he had become one of its best known figures. During the First Great War he served four years overseas with the 31st Battalion. He was a member of the Native Sons' and of the Southern Alberta Oldtimers Association. He also was a member of the Army and Navy Veterans Association. Surviving are his wife, May; one daughters, Mrs. B.H. Johnson, one son, E. Lyle W.; his mother, Mary E. Jackson, all of Calgary; four sisters, Violet Gibson and Mrs. D. Bruce Smith, Vancouver; Mrs. George E. Wood and Mrs. F.J. Timmins, Calgary; five brothers, W. Earl, Thomas C., Albert G., all of Calgary; Frederick J., Vancouver; Ernest J., Detroit.
