The Record News issue date Sept 28 1967

William Kidd of Franktown, passed away peacefully in hospital on Sept 14, after an illness of 15 days, at the age of 86. Born Feb. 9, 1881, in Montague on the century farm where he resided all his life, he was the eldest son of Thomas Kidd and Ellen Perrin. In April, 1912, at Smiths Falls, he was married to Maude Victoria Condie, who survives him. His family surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Winnifred Bennett, Smiths Falls; Doris, Mrs. Donald Sexsmith, Woodstock; two sons, John, Franktown; Allen, Ottawa; eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Jones, Moosejaw, Sask.; Mrs. Luella Shirley, Vancouver, BC. One son, Franklin, predeceased him in July, 1941, killed in England while serving with the R.C.A.F.

The late Mr. Kidd rested at the Lannin Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, until Saturday, Sept 16, when the funeral service was conducted in the Chapel by the Rev. K. J. Murray, minister of Franktown United Church. Mr. Murray spoke fittingly of the simple and pure life led by the departed. He had been a quiet man, honest, faithful and well respected by all who knew him. He had lived a long, fruitful life and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery. Bearers were: Messrs. Fred Irvine, James Nolan, Glen Irvine, Earl Salter, James Condie, and Burton Carpenter.
