He had five sons. They were Thomas,James,John,Obediah and William. They were all born in Montaque Twsp. William died in the 1866. We believe his wife's name was Martha Edwards. William's son's sold their property in Montaque Twsp after William's death and moved (all five brothers) to Wallace Township.(southern Ontario) Thomas Salter married Ann Hill. Thomas(son of William) was born in Montaque Twsp about 1826 and Ann was born in Ireland. The Salter farm in Montaque in 1860's was at Lot 10, West half, Con. 6 and was sold to William Kelly in 1867. John Salter married Ellen Dezell who was the daughter of Ellen and James Dezell. She was born in 1851 in Lanark Cty. Does anyone have any information on William Salter who married Martha Edwards about 1822-25 in Montaque Twsp. Information on Edwards and Dezell also would be appreciated. This is an update to the first query. I must correct that there were six sons of William(not five). Joseph Salter was a son. The children of Martha and William were Alice,Mary,Peter,William,Thomas,Sarah,Eliza Jane. Some born in Beckwith Twsp and some born in Montaque. If you think you might be related to this family please email me so that we may compare notes. Martha and William are buried in The Franktown Public Cemetery. Their sons all eventually moved to Wellington Cty, Wallace TWsp area in Southern Ontario. +++ | Salter, William John Jr. (I4332)

6846 | http://www.borenich.co.uk/Ross_Document/RossFootnote_Alex.html#D [accessed Dec 31, 2013] The circumstances of the death of Big Sandy (Alistair M?r) Stewart appeared in the Perth Courier, January 18th, 1889. " Saturday last Mr. Alexander Stewart, 4th Line Beckwith, designated as "Big Sandy", came to town to do business. In returning, as a farmer on the 9th Line reports it, he undertook to light his pipe when the young and spirited team, feeling the loosened reins, began to run away. Mr. Stewart leaned over the dashboard to pick up the reins and fell forward and down in front of the runners where he was dragged along till a boulder on the side loosened the king bolt and let away the animals. He was found by the driver of the next vehicle to whom he said he was very much injured. He was carried into Peter McDougall's but objected to their sending for the doctor thinking he might recover. He lingered on in great pain until Sunday morning when he died just before Dr. McEwen arrived who was called out of church for the purpose of seeing him. The team ran a mile and a half where steaming and tired out they were caught by Messrs. McIlquham and Pressley who were emerging from the woods after a rabbit hunt. Mr. Stewart was a farmer with a large business and family connections and his shocking death has sent sorrow throughout many homes both in this section and in Manitoba. He was born in Vermont, but was the son of William Moffatt CRAM (1869 to 1923) born in Carleton Place, Ontario; the grandson of Isaac CRAM (1844 to 1923) also born in Lanark, and the great-grandson of James CRAM. Cram was born and raised in Chester, Vermont, to a Scottish immigrant father, and a German immigrant mother who once lived in Carleton Place. His father, William Cram died before Cram turned four, leaving him the only male in a family of five. He grew up on Aid to Dependent Children, and learned to work at an early age, doing jobs such as picking fruit, tossing newspapers, and painting houses, while bartering for piano lessons. By the time he turned eighteen, he had worked at least eighteen different jobs Cram once admitted that his career wasn't without sacrifice. His first wife was Rollins classmate, Jean Turner, who also graduated in 1941, and went on to receive a master's degree in social work from Columbia University. His second wife, Jane, is a former chemistry professor at Mt. Holyoke College. Cram chose not to have any children, "because I would either be a bad father or a bad scientist." In 2001, Cram died of cancer at the age of 82 | Cram, Donald James (I5810)
