McNeely Paid Final Tribute Following an illness of about three weeks, Mrs. Robert Miller McNeely passed away April 10 in Almonte General Hospital. The former Harriett Alice Thompson, she was a daughter of the late Robert Thompson and his wife, Charlotte Sheppard of Ramsay Township where she was born. On September 23, 1903 she married to Robert Miller McNeely of Beckwith Township in St. John's Anglican Church, Innisville. They farmed for many years in Beckwith. Her husband predeceased her in July 1929. Survivors include three daughters and four sons, (Muriel) Eric C. Simpson, Carleton Place; Earl J. McNeely, Bells Comers; Osmond E. McNeely and Howard W. McNeely, Carleton Place; Melvin M. McNeely, Ottawa: (Eleanor ) Mrs. Wilmer Lyons, Portland; (Vera) Mrs. Clinton J. McEvoy, Ottawa; also 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren: two sisters. Mrs. Ella Giles, Carleton Place and Mrs. Ada Smalley, Ossining, New York, U.S.A. The largely attended funeral was held from the Fleming Bros. Funeral Home, Lake Ave. West, on April 12 to St. James' Anglican church, Rev. G. A. Young and Rev. H. A. Horsey officiating. Interment the United cemeteries. This community was saddened last week by the passing of a beloved and respected citizen, John Wallace Cram. He died in Hospital, Carleton Place, Saturday morning, February 4th. Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. J. E. MacPhail at the Fleming Bros. Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 7th. John Cram was born on Glen Isle November 1896, the third son of Daniel Cram and his wife Euphemia Houston. He went to school in Ramsay and the Carleton Place High School. He farmed till uncertain health induced him to retire and later moved to 27 Albert St., Carleton Place. He is survived by his widow, the former Eva F. Stevenson, a daughter Barbara, (Mrs. E. G. Cameron) of Ottawa and a son William with Ontario Dept. of Lands and Forests, (Air Service) at Sault Ste. Marie and nine grandchildren. Two brothers survive, Glen in Three Hills, Alta., and Boyd in Ottawa; and two sisters, Grace (Mrs. Benjamin Guhl) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Florence (Mrs. Harwood McCreary) of Glen Isle. Two brothers predeceased him, Murray and William and two sisters, Laura and Jessie (Mrs. Morley Wilkinson). He was a life-long Baptist and active in that Church's affairs, serving at one time as Clerk and on the Board of Managers for many years. At one time he was on the Beckwith Council and also a Trustee at Ramsay S. S. No. 8. He took an active interest in agricultural matters, His sound judgment and keen, kindly sense of humour will be missed by a host of friends. Cram Dies - 65th Year The funeral of Daniel Boyd Cram took place July 23, from the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, McArthur Avenue to the Baptist Church where Rev. John MacPhail assisted by Rev. Ron Crawford of Ottawa conducted the service. Interment was made in the United Cemeteries. Mr. Cram died in an Ottawa hospital, July 21 after an illness of many years. He was in his 65th year and had resided at Glen Isle. He was born October 22, 1903, a son of the late Daniel Cram and his wife, Euphemia Houston of Glen Isle. He attended the Carleton Place Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his four brothers. Murray, Glen, Jack, and William; also by two sisters, Miss Laura Cram and Jessie, Mrs. M. Wilkinson. Barker Funeral Home, McArthur Ave., where Rev. K. J. Murray conducted the service in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment was in the United Cemeteries Mr. Lawford, who had resided at 79 Munro St., passed away on Wednesday, January 10, in the C. P. & District Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was in his 85th year. Born on August 1, 1888, in Smiths Falls, Ont., he was a son of the late Wesley Lawford and his wife, the late Margaret Ferguson. He was educated in Montague Twp. and attended St. Paul's United Church, Franktown, Ont. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Lawford had farmed in Montague Twp. for many years. He is survived by his wife, the former Ethel Elizabeth Scott, whom he had married in Franktown; his son Gordon Ferguson Lawford of Carleton Place and his sister, Mrs. Edith MacDonald, a resident at the 12 Acres Nursing Home. She was about 8 years old when her father moved the entire family to Whiteson, Oregon. On October 16, 1912 she married William John Kidd at Whiteson, Oregon. She resided in the Corning - Paskenta area for the past 26 years. Goldie was a member of the Mystic Star Chapter, No. 279, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Christian Science Church. Goldie died at 6:30 pm, Saturday, May 8, 1971 at her Fourth Street home in Corning. She is survived by her husband, William John Kidd; a son, Lyle Kidd of Windsor, Arizona; a daughter, Lila Ross of Redding; a brother, L. O. Beacom of Milpitas; two sisters, Iva Massey of McMinnville, Oregon, and Hazel Schiller of Gresham, Oregon; four grandchildren, including Carlene Glenn of Stirling City, and three great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call at Hall Brothers' Chapel from 7 - 9 pm, Monday, May 10th. Funeral services were held at 10 am on Tuesday in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Della Beck of Orland, a Christian Scientist reader, conducted the rites amidst a profusion of floral tributes. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hall Brothers' Mortuary.
