We know her by her gentle air
Her hair of queenly grace
Her bright dark eyes and curly hair
And pleasant smiling face.
Her rippling laughter clear and shrill
That now and then may yet be heard
That echoes softly from yonder hill
Like the lilting song of a sweet voiced bird.
But now we hear she is going to leave
Yes Elva's going away
It matters little how we grieve
We cannot make her stay.

7675 Lorenzo Wesley, born June 18, 1819 in Spafford. Lorenzo married Adeline (Adaline) Whiting (1822-1845) on May 1, 1843, in Nauvoo. After the death of Adeline, Lorenzo married Susannah Wallace (1820-1892) May 16, 1847, in Nauvoo, according to his bio-sketch in the appendix of The Roundy Family in America. (The author has marginal doubts that he was married in Nauvoo in May of 1847.) On April 22, 1857, in Salt Lake City, Lorenzo took as a plural wife Priscilla Parrish (1833-1914). Lorenzo was the father of 18 children. Lorenzo drowned in the Colorado River in 1876. Depending on which written source one reads, his death by drowning occurred on May 24,1876, May 25, 1876, May 27, 1876, May 28, 1876, or September 24, 1876. The authors great grandmother, Matilda Ann Roundy, was the daughter of Lorenzo and Susannah. Lorenzo, according to LDS records, was baptized in 1837. According to the Early Church Information File Lorenzo was ordained a Seventy 8 April 1854 by Lewis Robbins and served in the 2nd Quorum of the Seventy, yet other LDS records claim he became a High Priest in May of 1845. When he was endowed in the Nauvoo temple on 22 January 1846 he was listed as a Seventy. Lorenzo received his Patriarchal blessing from Patriarch John Smith on 30 December 1845 in Nauvoo, his lineage "House of Joseph". Lorenzo was an early Pioneer of Southwestern Utah. Called as one of a group of missionaries to labor in the Southern Utah Native American Mission in October of 1853, Lorenzo became an able leader much depended upon by Brigham Young. Lorenzo was the founder of "Upper Kanab", helped build the first sawmill in Washington County, and was a leader during periodic troubles with the Indians. Lorenzo helped investigate the circumstances of the Mountain Meadow massacre. He was called to serve as a member and leader of exploration trips into northern Arizona. Lorenzo hosted Brigham Young while on his annual visits to Southwest Utah, helped locate and buildup several settlements and was a bishop at Kanarraville. According to a brief sketch Jared Curtis' wife, Elizabeth J. D. Roundy, provided George Knapp Collins for his Spafford, Onondaga County New York, Lorenzo was "a member of the (Utah) Nauvoo Legion....He was superintendent of the Co-operative Mercantile Institution in Kanarra, Iron County, Utah, was two or three time elected to the Legislature, was ordained Bishop in 1860, and was finally made President of the Southern Colony of Mormons".

An extensive history has been written for Lorenzo. It can be found at this address:

William Henry Leach & Elizabeth Lemmex

William Henry Leach (1780-1878) was born in Enniscorthy, Wexford County, Ireland in 1780.
He was the second son of William Leach & Anne Edwards and the oldest son to eventually
immigrate to Canada (his brothers George & James remained in Ireland). He married Elizabeth
"Betsy" Lemmex in Ireland on Apr 16, 1804.
Elizabeth Lemmex (1786-1874), the daughter of John Lemmex Sr. (1770-1832) & Ida
Solman, was also born in Wexford County, Ireland.. A plaque in the memory of John Lemmex
Sr. and his wife as two of the many Wexford Irish settlers who arrived in Beckwith Township in
June 1819 can be found in the cemetery in Franktown, Ont.
There is some confusion as to Elizabeth's maiden name (as it is not shown on her tombstone).
There have been some references to Lummex, Lumax, as well as Lummox, perhaps because of
a gentleman named Thomas Lummox, who settled on Lot 6, Concession 8 in 1822.
Their first four children (John, Edith, Ann, Thomas) were born in Ireland ... all in Wexford
County except for John who was born in Carlow. In 1819, William was awarded a sealed grant
by the Crown King George IV to 100 acres in Beckwith Twp, Lanark County in Upper Canada. In
June of that year, he, his wife Elizabeth and their four children arrived in Canada (Port of
Quebec) aboard the British frigate "Maria". Likely joining them at that time was Thomas Leech
(1793-1852) and his wife Frances Cooke (1792-1879) as well as another William Leach (1792-
1857) & his wife Harriet Hawkins (1795-1871). William Henry's exact relationship to both
Thomas & the other William remains a mystery.
William Henry's sister Susan Leech (1788-1873) & her husband James Lucas (1782-1844)
arrived in Canada in 1815. His brother Samuel Leech, his sisters Elizabeth & Esther (with
husband William Willis) as well as his widowed mother Anne Edwards arrived in Beckwith in
1820.
When the family arrived in Canada, their family name was spelt "Leech". The change to "Leach"
probably happened quickly as most records after 1822 showed the latter spelling. The family
settled on lot 12 on the ninth concession of Beckwith. In 1822, they built their permanent
residence and it today stands as the oldest house in Beckwith Twp.
William & Elizabeth had another seven children (James, Henry, William, Luke, Elizabeth, Robert
& Keziah) after their arrival in Canada ... all were born between 1820 to 1833 in Beckwith Twp.
William Henry died on Jan 31, 1878. Elizabeth passed away several years earlier on Apr 16,
1874. Both are buried in the public cemetery at Franktown, Ont. (just north of Smiths Falls) ...
plots 240 & 241.
