802 | (Research):Notes for THOMAS CODD: Notes from Eileen Jackson: 1. Thomas and Elizabeth Codd and their five children arrived in Canada in 1820, "and in the month of August of the same year proceeded to Lanark to obtain land." (See Upper Canada Land Petition's, 27 August 1828, p. 106). Thomas Codd and his son George located on lots 3N.E.., 4, and 5, concession 12. George obtained the patent for lot4S.W... 2. Family information is that the outcome of a dispute about a political issue accounts for the difference in the spelling of the surname Codd in Canada. Thomas Sr., and his son Richard selected "Coad", George, Thomas, Abraham, and James decided on "Code". Codes who settled in Kitley in Leeds were also divided as to how they spelled the surname. Family information is that they were relatives of Thomas Codd. | Code, George William Sr. (I12466)

841 | (Research):ohn Code's 1787 oldest son, John, was born in Quebec according to 1891 census - he was 73 yrs old (1891-73 = 1818) at the time. This census also shows Ann and Ellen. All 3 were siblings of Thomas. Ann who was 74 in the census was born in Ireland. This would mean that John 1787 immigrated in 1817 which confirms Bailey's speculation.|| John Codd change his name to Code after he arrived in Canada - gsd Further, Jane Moody's family information is that he wa a carriagemaker by trade and worked in Dublin before emigrating, which is where he met his wife Mary Ann, born in Meath. After emigrating, he worked in Montreal for a couple of years before moving to Lanark Co.. His sons set up a woollen mill in Innisville and Abraham owned a large mill in Carleton Place for about 10 years while he was MP for Lanark County. | Code, John (I11174)
