9557 | Phyllis (Leith) Allison of Janesville, WI, went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2019. She was born to Vernon and Julia (Griffith) Leith on December 4, 1938 in Wausau, Wisconsin. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1957. Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Charles "Chuck" Allison, at First Christian Church on March 14, 1959. She was actively involved in Bethel Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities over the last 54 years and was known as "Grandma Phyllis" to many of the children there. She was previously employed by Parker Pen and retired from Prent Corporation in 1999. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and church friends, many of whom she considered family. She attended her grandson's sporting events throughout the years, and looked forward to "Jokers Tuesdays." Phyllis and Chuck enjoyed traveling together, meeting their goal of visiting all 50 states, her favorite being Alaska. She is survived by her husband, Chuck; three daughters: Vicky (Efren) Blanca, Teri Allison, Patti (Lawrence) Faus; three grandsons: Larry (Insook) Faus, Nick (Jaime) Faus and Michael Blanca; two precious great-granddaughters; her sister and best friend, Joanne Driscoll; and many cousins; nephews; and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Leith. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Bethel Baptist Church, 3300 Mt. Zion Avenue, Janesville. Pastor Drew Super and Pastor Jason Eddy will officiate. A visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church. Private interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park at a later date. The crew of Lockheed Hudson #771 aircraft was on a navigational training and transport flight between Torbay in Newfoundland and Dartmouth in Nova Scotia, Canada, when they disappeared, crashing 11 miles from RCAF Station Dartmouth. There were three crew members, as well as three passengers aboard the Hudson, and all six servicemen perished in the aircraft accident. Though a military search was immediately launched, the crash site was not located until 6 Nov 1944. The aircrew members were- Flight Sergeant Robert Cecil ROLFE, Warrant Officer Class II James Robin STICK and Pilot Officer Thomas Albert Kidd WATTERSON. The military passengers were- Flight Lieutenant John Thomas HOOK, US Army Lieutenant Eugene Estes SNELL and Flying Officer William Hector THOMPSON. 9581 | Pioneer druggist succumbs at 85, Pioneer Regina druggist. Albert Duncan, 85, of 3047 Quinn Drive, died at his home Monday after a lengthy illness. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p m. In First Presbyterian church with R. M. Shields officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Regina Cemetery. Bom at Almonte, Ont., Mr. Duncan served his drug apprenticeship under his brother Hugh, at Vankleek Hill. Ont. He graduated from the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1899 and opened a small drug store in Merrickville, Ont. In 1903, Mr. Duncan married the late Jennie Jakes of Merrickville and later the same year came west to Regina. He opened his first drugstore In a shack on Scarth street in partnership with W. M. Rea. A few months later it was moved into the Strathcona block. In 1907, Mr. Duncan bought the Medical Hall building, 1747 Scarth street, and operated a store there until 1939. He built the Duncan block In 1919 at the comer of Albert street and Dewdney avenue and opened another store, still maintained by his son, James A. Duncan. Mr. Duncan, owner of the gravel pit at Pilot Butte, supplied all the sand and gravel in the construction of the Legislative buildings. HONORED In 1957, he was honored by the anniversary of the founding of the Pharmacentical Assocoation, Always interested in agriculture, Mr. Duncan made frequent trips to his farms at Fillmore and Stoughton. , Mr. Duncan was a .member of First Presbyterian church. He is predeceased by six brothers, five of .whom were also pioneers In western Canada. Robert was an early farmer at Pilot Mound, Man.; William was one of the founders of the Beaver Lumber Co., Regina; James was city Caxton Press representative; Hugh operated a drug store in Edmonton; John homesteaded at Stoughton and his younger brother, Edward, remained in Almonte. Mr. Duncan was also predeceased by his wife in 1915 and a son, Kenneth.in 1911. He is survived by one son, James Albert, 3047 Quinn drive; one daughter, Mrs. T. H. 9582 | Pioneer Munich Woman Dies Saturday - Mrs. Mary Jane Coffey Rites At Munich Tuesday, Interment At Emerado Mrs. Mary Jane Coffey, a pioneer resident of the Munich community, passed away Saturday, January 3, 1942, at her home in Munich after an illness of more than three weeks with a heart ailment. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Zion Lutheran church at Munich with Rev. Thomas B. Lindsay of Langdon in charge. Interment was in the family plot in the cemetery at Emerado, beside the remains of Mr. Coffey. A quartet composed of Isaac Hoffman, H. J. Dick. H. F. Dick, and W. S. Janzen sang "Christian's Home in Glory" and "Rest in Jordon." Mrs. J. H. Bain of Langdon was at the organ. Mary Jane, daughter of William and Eliza Sykes, was born August 12, 1867, at Ashton, Ont. She came to Grand Forks county with her parents in 1878 and was married at Grand Forks in 1882 to Hugh John Coffey. The couple first farmed six miles west of Osnabrock, and in 1887 moved back to Grand Forks county, where they farmed until 1904 when they moved to the new town of Munich to operate a hotel. Mr. Coffey passed away October 12, 1939. Eight children were born to the couple and four survive. They are Mrs. J. H. Watters of Nashua, Mont.; Mrs. C. E. Render of Hannah; and John H. and William E. Coffey of Munich. Fourteen grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Steve Caul of Cartwright, Man.; and Mrs. George Batson of Conklin, Mich.; are sisters who survive and William Sykes of Cartwright is a brother who survives. The family was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, and Mrs. Coffey was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were her daughter, Mrs. Watters of Nashua, Mont.; and Mrs. Render of Hannah; Rose Hamilton of Colorado Springs Colo.; and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hamilton, Mrs. F. 9583 | Pioneer Settler Dies Here Mrs. Margaret coxford, of 10439 139th. St., who opened the first grocery store on Walterdale Flats following the 1915 floods, died Monday. Mrs. coxford came to Edmonton in 1905 from dundee, Scotland, and ran a boarding house for the John Walters Lumber Mill which was located on Waterdale Flats, where the Kinsmens Park is today. After her marrage to James Coxford in 1908, she and her husband lived in the first house built in South Edmonton. The old home is now used as a place for city archives and a museum, and is located on 93rd. Ave., between 106 and 107th. Sts. on the river bank. She was predeceased by her husband in 1944. She is survived by three sons, Herbert and Robert of Edmonton, William of Victoria, B.C.; a daughter, Mrs. H. J. (Ada Mary) Lavoie of Edmonton; also 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the Foster and McGarvey Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Rev. H. G. 9585 | Plane Crash Victims' Names Told Atsugi, Japan (AP) -- The U.S. Navy today announced the names of 22 Navy men who were killed and eight survivors in the 16 Mar 1970 crash of an EC121 electronic spy plane at the Da Nang Air Base in Vietnam on Monday. The plane, which monitored North Vietnamese radio and radar transmissions, crashed as it was landing at the base. Stephen was a survivor. She was born May 15, 1915 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of John A. and Cecile (Harrington) Coxford. She was a housekeeper for many years at Beyer Hospital in Ypsilanti. Survivors include: her loving daughter, Sharon (fianc?, James Banks) Causley of Comins; four grandchildren, Mark (Janet) Hagar of AZ, Teressa (Eric) Dohn of Ypsilanti, Gina (Brett) Rendeiro of Commerce Township, MI and J.R. (Sis) Causley of Lewiston, MI; and seven great grandchildren, Justin and Nick Hagar, Isabella and Makenna Rendeiro and Chase, Kenny and Kristin Causley. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, John A. Green in 1965 and two brothers, Jack and Bill. A special thank you to James Banks, Sharon's fianc?, who helped Sharon take care of her mother and who loved Margaret very much. The funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Stark Funeral Service with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
