The eastern side of the lakes and valley is fertile farmland. The western side of the lake is very rugged rocky mountains. Ambrisbeg is located near the lakeshore off B881 which joins the A844 a short distance south. Today, the Bruchag Road runs fron the junction of the A844 and the B881 near Kingarth to There is a Brucheg Road that runs from the A844 out to the east coast and rejoins the A844 further north, in the Piperhall Wood.
