Mr. Wilbert Fulton of Pakenham passed away at the Almonte General Hospital on Wednesday, January 4th, 1967, at the age of 71 years. Wilbert Angus Fulton was born in Pakenham Township on November 30, 1895. He was the son of the late Alexander Fulton and Margaret Sutherland. For 22 years he farmed in the Cedar Hill District and in 1943 he moved to Pakenham where he carried on a successful business until his retirement in 1965. As a staunch Presbyterian, he worshipped at Almonte Presbyterian Church. He served on the Board of Managers and in 1946 he was elected an, elder in which office he served with faithfulness until the time of his death. Mr. Fulton was a representative elder for 25 years. He also served on a number of Presbytery and Synod Committees. He was a commissioner to the General Assembly on several occasions, his latest commission being to Toronto in 1965. Mr. Fulton was Congregational secretary for 25 years. In 1960 he presented to his beloved Church an electric organ which will serve as a Memorial to him and his faithful service. In politics, Mr. Fulton was an ardent Liberal. He was a member of the Arnprior Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Orange Order which he joined in 1918 and in which he held many offices including that of County Master. In 1921 he married May Floyd who survives him. Also surviving are four sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Garfield McNab) Sun City, Arizona; Pearl (Mrs. Ross Barr) Almonte; Mildred (Mrs. G. Eckford) Arnprior; Kathleen (Mrs. Morley Alexander) Renfrew, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were from Almonte Presbyterian Church, on Friday, January 6, conducted by this Minister, the Rev. Gordon Beaton, assisted by the Rev. R. K. Earls, Cobden, and the Rev. D. Leslie Elder, Toronto, a former Minister of Almonte Church. Burial was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs; Leonard Fulton, Bill Lawson. John Early, Art Lowe, Henry Morphy and Earl Morphy.
