  	1973, Thursday November 29, The Almonte Gazette page 7 LORNE EDWARD RITCHIE Lorne Edward Ritchie of 230 Bridge street, Almonte, passed away at noon on Thursday, November 15, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 62. Born in Almonte on April 3rd, 1911, he was a son of Mrs. Eva Mae (Monterville) Ritchie, now of Perth, and the late Samuel Ritchie. He received his education in Almonte schools. Mr. Ritchie was a former member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and before his retirement was with the Department of National Defence. He was a member of Almonte United Church, Granite Chapter No. 63 and Mississippi Lodge No. 147 A.F. and A.M., and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 240. He was also a member of the Mississippi Golf Club and of the Almonte Curling Club. He was married to the former Vera Barker at Blakeney on November 25, 1939. Surviving besides his wife and mother, are a son, David Ritchie of Montreal, and two brothers, Howard Ritchie of Stratford, Ontario, and Harold Ritchie of Nairn Centre, Ontario. A sister, Hazel (Mrs. John Livingston) predeceased him. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, on Sunday, November 18, 2:30 p.m., with burial at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev. Robert McCrea of Almonte United Church conducted the services. Pallbearers were Harry Walker, Wilfred Lindsay, Nickolas Magus, Clare Syme, Elmer West and Albert Gale. A Masonic service and a Legion service were held at the funeral home on Saturday evening.
