Born Sept. 29, 1895 at Winnipeg, Man., she lived in the Chilliwack area for 80 years. toop She was a housewife at home. She was a member of Sumas United Church and superintendent of its Sunday School. She produced many Christmas concerts. She enjoyed entertaining many groups with her comic recitations. With the Ruth Rebekah Lodge 7, she was a Past Noble Grand and financial secretary as well as a life member. For many years, she was a member of the Willing Workers Group of the Chilliwack United Church. Funeral service was held April 18 from the chapel of Henderson's Funeral Home with Rev. Reg Brown officiating. Interment was at the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Casketbearers were Robert Edwards, Ronald Edwards, Harley Edwards, Bruce Morrison, John Anderson, and David Brooks. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Evelyn and Roy Edwards of Sardis, Ethel and Robert Anderson of Victoria, Edna annd Lloyd Brooks of Victoria; son and daughter-in-law Dr. Edgar and Muriel Toop of St. Albert, Alta.; 15 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; sisters Emily Hogg of White Rock, Lillian Bradwell of Chilliwack, Roberta Wilson of Hope; and by her brother Wesley Simpson of Sardis. Albert Hall and Miss Alma Campbell were the witnesses to the ceremony. The bridegroom is the son of Sampson Toop of Sumas, and is president of the Sumas Epworth League, while the bride is the daughter of Robert M. Simpson of South Sumas, and is secretary of the league. The happy couple will spend their honeymoon visiting the Sound cities, joining home by way of Victoria, and will reside at Sumas on the Toop homestead. The many friends, both in Sumas and Chiiliwack, extend hearty congratulations to the young couple.
