There entered into rest on Thursday, September 20th, at the home of her mother, Mrs. James Moore, Almonte, Violet, beloved wife of James E. Shane. The late Mrs. Shane was born 44 years ago on the 7th line of Ramsay and was a daughter of Mrs. James Moore and the late Mr. Moore. Twenty-four years ago she married James E. Shane of Clayton. They resided in Clayton district the greater part of her life, recently having moved to the 11th line of Pakenham; Mrs. Shane's loving and loyal disposition made her many good friends which was testified to by numerous and beautiful floral tributes received. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, Clayton, also the Women's Institute and secretary of the Clayton Farm Forum. The funeral, which was one of the largest in the community, was held Saturday afternoon, September 22nd, at 2 p.m. from the home of Mr. Edward Shane, Clayton, to St. George's Church with Rev. D. F. Weegar conducting the service. Interment took place in the United Cemetery, Clayton. The pallbearers were George Fleming, Russell Andrews, J. M. Chapman,Thomas New, Herbert Rath and Clifford Dodsworth. Left to mourn her loss are her husband, three sons, Arthur of Ramsay, Lionel and Ray, and one daughter, Dorothy, all at home, also her mother Mrs. James Moore of Almonte; one sister, Mrs. E. R. Halpin (Hazel), of Rochester, N. Y.; one brother, Hilliard, of Los Angles, California. Friends attending the funeral from a distance were, Mrs. James Moore, Almonte; Mrs. E. R. Halpin, Rochester, N. Y.; Mr. H. G. Moore, Los Angles, Calif. Mr. Enoch Shane and daughter, Ottawa; Mrs. Wm. Shane, Mr. and Mrs. James Moore, Mrs. Finners, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Drynan, Mrs. Thos. Whalen and Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews, all of Carleton Place; Mr. Frank Moore of Stittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Joyce of Arnprior; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Stanzel and Mrs. Howard Badour of Smiths Falls.
