He was struck by a limb while falling a tree. The accident was investigated by the Lincoln county coroner s office. The son of William B. and Rose Ann Gibson, he was born on November 27, 1921 in Schaller, Iowa. In 1938 he moved with his familv to Philomath where he graduated from Philomath high school. On November 9, 1940, he was married to Leona Small in Philomath. He entered the National Guard the same year and served for five years, receiving his discharge from the U. S. Army in 1945. The couple lived in Summit until 1940 when they moved to Philomath where they lived until 1950 when they came to Corvallis to make lheir home. He was a member of the Corvallis Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Leslie Gayle Gibson, Corvallis; his mother, Mrs. Rose Ann Gibson, Corvallis; three sisters. Mrs. Louis Auld, Portland. Mrs. Wayne Pankalla, Corvallls, and Mrs. Mclvin Olson, Philomath; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral service will be held at the Mayflower Chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m. under the direction of the DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home.
