James B Cram
James B Cram, a former well-known Galt barber passed away on Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs Arthur Morton, Union street, Almonte. Mr Cram, who was in his 68th year, was born at White Lake. After learning the barber trade he went west, and worked his trade in several centres in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
In Sept 1915, he married Miss Ethel Coxford in Almonte. His wife predeceased him in 1932.
Mr Cram was a resident of Galt for 30 years and for 27 years he operated his own shop in that city. because of ill health, he retired from business in April, 1948, and came to Almonte to live with his daughter. He was in the barber business for a total of 48 years. Mr Cram had been in poor health in recent months. He suffered a stroke in October and a second one recently which resulted in his death.
The funeral service was held at the Comba funeral Home on sunday, Feb 24, at 2 p.m.
Interment was in the Auld Kirk cemetery.
the services at the Home and cemetery were conducted by the Rev Liewellyn Graham, Rector of St. Paul's.
The pallbearers were: Messrs Carson Johnson, J.L McMullan, Lawrence Morton, Reginald Morton, Laurence Jones and Percy Jones.
Among the beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from the Galt Minor softball League, St. Paul's Young Ladies' Club and The Atthewell Rebekah Lodge.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were his son, William Cram and Mrs Cram of Galt; Mr and Mrs Jamieson Jones of Carleton Place; Mr and Mrs Holly Smith of Pakenham and Mrs Delbert Miller of Galetta.
