William Thomas McGill, beloved husband of Isobel Rivington, dear father of John R., Pakenham, Hubert of Willowdale, Ontario, Lois (Mrs Donald Munro) Almonte, Isobel (Mrs Stewart Eastman) North Gower, in his 82nd year. Rested at the Comba Funeral Home, where service was held on Wednesday, December 13th. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery. 1968, Thursday January 4, The Almonte Gazette page 7 Mr Thos. McGill The death of Tom McGill occurred December 11 in the Almonte General Hospital. Born in 1866, he was the son of John McGill and his wife, Catherine McKay. All his life he lived on the farm on which he was born. In 1922 he was married to Margaret Isabel Rivington. Alert and progressive he pioneered in fur farming, both in Silver Fox and Chinchillas. He took a keen interest in public affairs and was an active member of Blakeney United Church. He was a Life Member of Almonte Lodge of Royal Arch Mason also of Mississippi Lodge A.F. and A.M. No 147. He is survived by his wife Margaret; two sons, John R., Pakenham, and Hubert, of Willowdale, Ontario and two daughters, Lois (Mrs Donald Munro), Almonte, and Isabel (Mrs Stuart Eastman), North Gower. Of eight brothers and sisters, two survive, John McGill, Sr., and Lucy (Mrs S.R. Saunderson), Daytona Beach, Florida, U.S.A. The funeral at the Comba Home conducted by Rev H. Davies and assisted by Rev W.L. Henley, was very largely attended. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Murray Cavanagh, Lorne Ritchie, Borden McGill, George Robertson, Weldon Timmins and John Currie.
