  	Mr. william Armstrong The funeral was held, Turesday afternoon, of Mr. William Armstrong, well known retired farmer of Ramsay, who passed away suddenly at the home of his son-in-law, Mr William Smithson, Almonte, on Sunday last. While he has not been in the best of health for some time he was going about as usual. On Sunday he did not feel well and remained in bed. Death came suddenly and peacefully. He was 84 years of age. Mr Armstrong was born at White Lake, a son of the late Mr and Mrs Charles Armstrong. He married Eliza Ann McCann who predeceased him in 1935. Upwards of 63 years ago he moved to a farm on the 10th line of Ramsay, where he continued to live until the death of his wife, when he moved into town and resided with his son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs William Smithson. He leaves two daughters and one son, namely Mrs Wesley McCann (Mary) of Pakenham; Mrs Smithson (Jessie) Almonte: and James of Brockville. Two other daughters, Mrs Andrew Kirk (Margaret), and Mrs Andrew McPhail (Rebecca) predeceased him. Mr Armstrong had a wide circle of friends in the district. He had a cheerful disposition and was one of the most staunch conservatives in the riding. When the Mail and Empire was merged with the Toronto globe he was greatly perturbed having taken the great tory organ ever since it started on its long career as a newspaper. The funeral was held on tuesday afternoon from the Smithson residence to the Auld Kirk Cemetery, service being conducted by the Rev A.J. Fowlie of the Almonte Presbyterian Church. The pallbearers were Messrs Wm Voyce, Robert McPhail, Geo smithson, Gordon Sadler, Melville Kirk and Harvey Fisher.
