  	Northern Advance, 4 Mar 1909, p. 1 John S. Kerfoot An old time resident of Minesing passed from the scene on Thurs. Feb.25th, in the person of JohnS. Kerfoot, at the age of 63. He had been ailing for some time. The late Mr. Kerfoot was born in 1846 in Montagu Township, County of lanark, and went to Minesing as a young man. He followed farming practically all his life, retiring from business only about a year ago. For a number of years he sat in Vespra Council and always took a keen interest in local affairs. he was active in Methodist Church circles and in Sunday School work, in which spheres of duty his death will create a void not easily filled. In politics he was a consistent Liberal. The funeral on Sat. afternoon to Minesing church and cemetery was one of the largest seen in that community. The sacred edifice was crowded to the doors. Rev. Mr. Legate conducting an impressive service. Mr. Kerfoot was married in early life to Miss Lydia Scott, who with 2 sons, F. Austin kerfoot, Minesing & Dr. K.W. Kerfoot, Bishop Mills, survive.
