  	After her husband died, leaving her with four small children, Catherine made her way as a seamstress and made sure each of her children got as much education as possible. As her children grew and went their separate ways, she lived near each for some period of time, both in the States and in Manitoba. She spent her final two years in a nursing home in Winnipeg and was buried near where her daughter Bella was living at the time, in North Norfolk, Manitoba.
