Margaret M. McGill
Mrs Margaret Morrison McGill (nee Arthur), widow of the late John McGill Sr., of R.R. 1, Pakenham, passed away at the Lake Avenue Nursing Home, Carleton Place, at 11.15 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 1975. She was 86. Born in Pakenham Township on March 12, 1889, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie Arthur. She received her education at Blakeney Public School and at Willis Business College in Ottawa. On October 31, 1919, she was married at Blakeney to the late John McGill. Mrs McGill was a member of the United Church, the Women's Institute, Ladies' Aid and the Horticultural Society. With a special interest in handicrafts, she was a lady director of the North Lanark Agricultural Society. She is survived by two daughters, Jean S. McGill, Toronto and Marion K. (Mrs Murray Cavanagah) of Pakenham, and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs Jean McPhail of Almonte and Mrs Kathleen Rose of Perth. She was predeceased by one brother, Oral. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street, Almonte, on Wednesday afternoon, April 30th with Rev C. Dodds of Pakenham United Church officiating. Burial was at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Keith Armstrong, Art McPhail, Ted Woods, Ken Campbell, Jack Arthur and Alex Bowes.
