The death of Mr Robert Alexander (Bert) Young, a highly respected citizen of the 9th Concession, Ramsay Township, occurred suddenly at his residence on Saturday, October 6th, 1979. He was 66. Mr Young farmed on Lot 23, in the ninth concession. He was an active member of Mississippi Lodge No 147 A.F.&A.M. and of Granite chapter No 61. He was a member of Almonte United Church. Born on the home farm in Ramsay, he was a son of the late Robert W. Young and his wife, Lucinda Scott, and received his education at S.S. No 15 Ramsay and the Almonte High School. He was married at Almonte on March 5, 1938, to the former Alma Williams, who survives. Also surviving are a brother, John E., of Toronto, and a sister, Mrs Marion A. Teskey of Victoria, B.C. Predeceased are a brother and a sister, William Scott Young and Jean Olive Young. The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Elgin Street, Almonte, on Tuesday, October 9, at 2 p.m., with Rev Mitchell officiating. Burial was at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Bert Timmins, Russell Camelon, Clifford McDougall, Jack McPhail, George Robertson and Ross Craig.

An early spring wedding took piace in Almonte on Saturday afternoon afternoon at five o'clock at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C. Ross MacDoweli, when Miss Alma Efhel Williams daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Williams Solsgirth Manitoba, became the bride of Mr.Robert Alexander (Bert) Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Young. "Braehead". Almonte. Rev. C. D. McLellan, minister of Bethany United church, officiated.
The bride was given in marriage by Dr. MacDowell and wore a dusky pink taffeta gown fashioned with a jacket. She wore a Juliet cap to match styled with a . shoulder length veil and carried Calla lilies.
Miss Jeanne young sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and was wearing a navy blue printed chiffon over taffeta frock with which she wore a large navy blue straw hat and she carried spring blooms.
Mr. Morley Alexander, cousin of the groom, was best man. High tea was served following ffhe ceremony and later Mr. Young and his bride left on their wedding trip to Syracuse, Geneva and other American points. For travelling the bride wore a dark muskrat swagger coat over a pretty hunter green crepe frock and her I hat was a Breton sailor. On their return they will reside in Almonte.
