  	1947, Thursday January 9, The Almonte Gazette page 4 Mr Geo Thomas Bond Mr Geo Thomas Bond passed away on Saturday, Jan 4 at the home of his son-in-law, Mr Harvey Goodfellow following an illness of three weeks' duration. Mr Bond was born in Gloucestershire, England 73 years ago a son of the late Mr and Mrs Reuben Bond. He came to Canada with his parents when he was one year old and the family settled in Almonte. Fifty-one years ago he married Miss Mary Whyte of Almonte who survives, and last year they had the pleasure of celebrating the 50th anniversary of their marriage at the home in Braeside. Most of Mr Bond's active life was spent at Braeside where for 47 years he was in the employ of Gillies Bros. For many year he served as head millwright. He retired at the end of 1945 and he and his wife came to Almonte in September where they lived with their daughter and son-inlaw Mr and Mrs Harvey Goodfellow on Farm Street. Surviving besides his wife are eight daughters: Christena, Mrs Alex Tosh; Florence, Mrs Cephas Tosh both of Almonte; Alberna, Mrs Albert Rose, Sarnia; Georgina, Mrs Thos Proctor, Jr. and Ruby, Mrs Harry Nontell of Almonte; Pearl, Mrs Russell Dodds of Toronto; Catherine, Mrs Harvey Goodfellow of Almonte and Pansy, Mrs Harry Kuehl of Waterloo. One son died in infancy. Also left to mourn are one brother, W.A. Bond of Ottawa and four sisters, Mrs A.W. Horton and Mrs Harry Meade, both of South Carolina; Mrs Geo Wilson and Mrs Fred Hutchinson both of Winnipeg, 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan 7 with Rev B. Owen of Calvary Baptist Church Arnprior officiating, assisted by Rev Wm Aird of Almonte Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Stuart Burton, Jack Carmichael, Robert Tomilson, Thos Moore, Leo Perrault and Chas Gilmour, all of Braeside. Among the beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from the Board of Calvary Baptist church, Arnprior. The Heather Club of Almonte Presbyterian Church, Thoburn's Weaving Room and Local Union No 104 United Textile Workers of America.
