LIVINGSTON ? At Vancouver, B.C. on Tuesday, Nov 13, 1956, Hazel Irene Ritchie, beloved wife of John C. Livingston, in her 32nd year. Resting at the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street, Almonte. Funeral service at the parlours on Sunday, Nov 18th at 3 p.m. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

Mrs John S. Livingston
Impressive tribute was paid to the memory of Mrs John S. Livingston at her funeral which was held from the Comba Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov 18 by a wide circle of friends and relatives who mourn the passing in her 32nd year. Mr Livingston was the former Hazel Irene Ritchie of Almonte. Although in poor health for a number of years, her death occurred suddenly in a Vancouver hospital on Tues Nov 13th. Born in Almonte, she was a daughter of Mrs Samuel H. Ritchie and the late Mr Ritchie. She received her education here and during World War II, she joined the C.W.A.C. and served with the Pay Corps. At the end of the war she held the rank of sergeant. In 1945 she married Staff Sergeant John S. Livingston, also of the Army Pay Corps. They lived in Kingston, London, Washington, D.C. and Vancouver. Surviving in addition to her husband are her mother, Mrs S.H. Ritchie, who was in Vancouver at the time of her death, three brothers, Lorne of Almonte; Howard of Kitchener and Harold of Worthington, Ont. Rev Canon J.W.R. Meakin, rector of St Paul's Anglican Church officiated, assisted by the Rev Albert Eikenaar of Almonte Baptist Church. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messers Donald Campbell, Daniel Elliott, Dawson MacDowall, John Bracewell, John Smithson and John Edgar. In the long cortege was a detachment of war veterans representing Almonte Branch of the Canadian Legion No 240 and friends from Carleton Place, Smiths Falls and Ottawa. Among those from a distance were Mr and Mrs T.J. White of Paxton, Ill, Mr and Mrs Wm Murray, Mrs R Lee and Mrs O. Rice of Washington, D.C., Major J.F. Fookes of Vancouver and Major R.V. Inman of Montreal. Among the profusion of beautiful floral tributes was a wreath from the Almonte Branch of the Canadian Legion.
