  	Mrs. C. Jackson, Pioneer, Passes Illness Fatal to Prominent Early Settler, Salvation Army Worker A resident of Calgary since its earliest days, Mrs. Mary Jane Jackson, wife of Charles Jackson, 404 Balmoral apartments, died Monday evening in a local hospital at the age of 72 years. The late Mrs. Jackson, with her husband, came to the small settlement which is now Calgary in the 80's from Ontario. With Mr. Jackson's brother, Tom, they settled in the present Killarney district, and engaged in ranching. Their homesteads were among the earliest in the district. Mrs. Jackson was also one of the pioneer Salvation Army officers in the west and coast cities, and at the time of her death was secretary of the League of Mercy, of which she had been an active member for the past 22 years. Surviving are her husband, Charles, also well-known among western pioneers, two daughters, Mrs. I. Lapp and Mrs. W. Meaker, both of Calgary; four brothers, George Kadey of Calgary, Wesley of Peace River, J.W. and Reuben of Vancouver, and a sister, Mrs. J. McLean of Hamiota, Man.
