  	John and Sarah married around 1852 and in 1880 emigrated to the US from North Gower, Ontario. In 1900 they were living on the family farm in Carlisle Township, ND, along with their daughter Maud. By this time only 5 of their nine children were still alive. Two of them, Cyrus Howard and Ephriam, were living close by with families of their own. The other three living children were Maud, Howard and Louis. The deceased children were Margret, Eldoriah, John, and Chester.
