  	1958, Wednesday July 9, The Carleton Place Canadian Russell Lyons Dies Suddenly Visiting In Cobden Mr Wm Russell Lyons of Town Line Carleton Place, passed away suddenly while visiting in Cobden, Ont. at Mrs Herb Lyons on Friday July 4th. He was 62 years of age. Born and educated in Bromley Township, Renfrew County, he was the youngest son to the late Wm Lyons and his wife Margaret Smith. He was married in Admaston in 1926 to Jessie Jane Jeffrey who survives. Leaving Renfrew in 1932 he came to farm in Beckwith, later moving to Appleton where they operated the General Store and Post Office. Since 1949 he had resided at his present home of the Town Line, Carleton Place. He was employed for several years as the Technician for the Eastern Ontario Cattle Breeders Association. He had not been in good health for the past year. Survivors are his wife and two daughters, Jean and Helen at home; two sisters, (Emily) Mrs Roland Crozier, Athens, (Margaret) Mrs Rowland Hornby, Ashton; one brother, Lawrence Lyons of Oshawa Ont, another brother Herb predeceased him in 1944. The funeral which was largely attended was held from his late residence Monday, July 7th to Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte Ont. Rev H. Giffin of Memorial Park United Church of which he was a member, officiated. Mrs Harold Kettles rendered a very beautiful solo during the service. Pallbearers were four nephews, Bill Lyons, Russell Crozier, Gerald Jeffrey and Douglas Stewart (2 cousins) William Lyons and Jake McMullen. The many beautiful floral tributes signified the high esteem in which he was held by his friends and neighbours.
