  	1964, Thursday May 14, The Almonte Gazette page 8 William S. Rodger The death occurred suddenly on Monday, May 4th of Mr Wm S. Rodger of Almonte. Mr Rodger who was in his 83rd year was working in his garden when he suffered a severe heart attack. He had been a resident of Almonte for the past 35 years. Until his retirement about five years ago, he served as a rural mail carrier. Mr Rodger was born at Middleville, the son of the late Mr and Mrs James H. Rodger. Of a family of 8, two sisters survive, Eva, Mrs Wm Rintoul of Drummond and Edna, Mrs Robert Woods of Ashton. Mr Rodger was twice married. His first wife, Caroline Somerville, died in 1935. His second wife, Susan Parker died in 1950. He is survived by one daughter, Ethel, Mrs Harry Metcalfe of Almonte; a step-daughter, Lorna, Mrs Desse Brown on Montreal and three grand-children, Rae Metcalfe of Ottawa, Bob and Cindy Metcalfe of Almonte. The funeral was held on Wednesday from the Comba Funeral Home with interment in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The Reverend D. Leslie Elder conducted the service. The pallbearers were: Mr Jas McDonald of Galt; Mr Joe Melanson, Mr Ed Winslow-Spragge, Mr Dolphie Elliott of Almonte and two nephews, Mr Jas Rodger of Lanark and Mr Earl Manson of Almonte
