78, of Flat Rock, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Hendersonville.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Raymond Arnold and Iola Boyce Arnold. He was a prior resident of Royal Oak, MI, Northville, MI, Grand Blanc, MI, Orchard Lake, MI, Centerville, OH, and St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to Henderson County 20 years ago.
Jim received his B.S. in Industrial Management form Lawrence Technological University, in Southfield, MI. He was employed by and retired from General Motors in Quality Control Management. Following his retirement, he worked for Lear Corporation. He served in the Coast Guard as a radio operator. He was a member of St. John in the Wilderness, where he was very active, and the Garden Railroad Club. He loved fishing and gardening, was a talented stained glass artist, and enjoyed hiking with his dog at the Carl Sandburg House National Historic Site.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kay S. Arnold; one daughter, Kendra Arnold and her husband, Dave Kormann, of Morristown, NJ; two sons, Jon Arnold of Hendersonville and Kent Arnold and his wife, Susan, of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Judy St. Clair and her husband, Ed, of MI; two brothers, Tom Arnold and his wife, Mary, of MI, Bill Arnold and his wife, Vicky, of IL; two grandchildren, Grayson James Arnold and Courtney Claire Arnold; and was the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was blessed with many close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 11:00AM at St. John in the Wilderness with Father John Morton officiating.
