  	John Dewar was baptized 20 Mar 1796 at Comrie, Perthshire Scotland to Archibald Dewar and Margaret Gow Ferguson. He was recorded as residing at Glenarlen in the Parish of Comrie when he departed Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland July 21st, 1818 as a Emigrant Settler aboard the brig Comrie. Aboard this vessel were also his parents and siblings. The ship arrived in Montr?al September 9th, 1818 and he was settled shortly thereafter at Beckwith Twp. in present day Lanark County, Ontario. He received the Deed from the Crown May 19th, 1824 for the NE 1/2 Lot 20, IX Concession of Beckwith Twp. Between 1822 and 1825 he married Margaret Buchanan, daughter of the Rev. George Buchanan and Ann Aitkin, and they are found on the 1842 Census on Lot 20, IX Concession of Beckwith Twp. with 10 family members born at Canada. On October 2nd, 1848 John purchased Lot 22, IX Concession of Plympton Twp., Lambton Co. from Chas. Laughrin and September 28th, 1849 sold the NE 1/2 of Lot 20, IX Concession of Beckwith Twp., Lanark Co. to Duncan McEwan for 300 Pounds. He is found at Plympton Twp. on the 1861 through 1881 Censuses (the 1852 Census is lost). His death on February 4th, 1890 is recorded in "The Pioneer Pastor" written in 1900 by his sister-in-law Jessie (Buchanan) Campbell. - Note - Original Transcription had "4 Feb 188?"
