Funeral services were held at Vancouver for Dr. George Edward Kidd, 65, orthopedic surgeon in Vancouver since 1922, who died after a six-month illness.
Interested in physical anthropology, Dr. Kidd had done research work on prehistoric, and modern Indians on the Pacific Coast and for work on the Marpole Midden was named Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute. He also was a Fellow of the American Geographical Society.
He was past president of the Vancouver Arts and Historical Saciety and was an authority on Egyptology, in which he became interested during the First World War when he served there in the Army Medical Corps. He presented a mummy he discovered to the Vancouver Museum.

He was born in "The Derry" a small community near Carleton Place, the son of the late Joseph Kidd and his wife Mary McDiar-mid.
He attended Carleton Place and Kemptvlle high schools. Graduate of Queen's University in Arts and Medicine, Dr. Kidd was professor there for three years until 1914. Oversea; he won the Military Cross and was mentioned in dispatches. He returned to Canada with a lieutenant colonel's rank.
He resumed his Queen's professorship, but resigned to do post-graduate work in Edinburgh, London and Liverpool. Earlier he had studied in Germany. He came to Vancouver in 1922, after being made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr. Kidd compiled a history of the Vancouver Medical Association and was author of the history of the school district of Derry, County Lanark, Ont. He also was past master of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge of Vancouver.
Members of St. John Ambulance Brigade, of which he was a life member, formed an honor guard at the funeral, conducted by Rev. E. D. Braden, D.D., at Nunn and Thompson Chapel. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
He was married in 1913 to Miss Lulu Hastey of Ottawa, who passed away in 1941. Surviving are two brothers. James of Nokomis, Sask., Livingstone, of Carleton Place. Ont., and two sisters. Margaret and Elizabeth of Carleton Place.
