  John Laughlin Notes He and his father immigrated and settled when the area was wilderness. He was a cousin of her late husband. William KIDD & his son Thomas immigrated in 1821, and settled on Lot 17, Con. 2, Beckwith Twp. in Aug 1821, William on the E 1/2 and Thomas on the W 1/2.... George petitioned for immigration (Dorothy says there is a letter in the National Archives stating his father & brother were already in Canada) shortly afterwards, and settled on the W 1/2 of Lot 20, Con. 2, Beckwith Twp. in Aug. 1822.... He died not long after (1823?), and his wife Jane SAUNDERS remarried to Samuel LEACH in 1824.... In 1828 William died, and his land went to his daughter Elizabeth (Kidd) SHIRLEY, with the rest of his estate going to his son Thomas, another daughter Sarah (Kidd) GRIFFIN, and his nephew Thomas SHIRLEY.... ================ John L.
