Newspaper article says brother to James Whalen who was also a resident in the Provincial Home. NO HEADSTONE E. J. Whelen, 76, Found Dead In Field Near City Edward John Whelen, 76-year-old resident of the Provincial Home for Aged Men, who was found dead in a field just east of the city on Sunday evening. Death was due to natural causes. He had been missing from the Provincial Home for some days and inquiries had been made at Ashcroft, his former residence, it having been thought he might have gone there. His only relative is a brother, J. Whelen, also a resident at the Provincial Home, who presently is a patient at Royal Inland Hospital.
