  	She was born before Confederation, in Clarendon Township, Pontiac County, Canada East (now Quebec), the daughter of Andrew Hanna and Angel (Elliot) Hanna. Her parents were both natives of Ireland. Her father was from County Cavan and her mother was from County Fermanagh. She was the youngest of their 5 children. Her headstone records her age as 82 at the time of her death in February 1940, so an estimated year of birth is 1857. Her mother died in 1862 when Ann was approximately 5 years old. Her father remarried in 1864 to Mary Armstrong. She married George Hodgins on 15 June 1881 in Clarendon Twp., Pontiac County, Quebec. George died in 1896. She died on 11 February 1940 and is buried with her husband in a plot in the Shawville Village Cemetery.
