Mr William J. Paul
One of Ramsay township's best known and respected residents passed away Sunday, Jan 29th, in the person of William J. Paul, at his farm, "Mount Blow," in Ramsay. The late Mr Paul had been in poor health for some time, but his sudden passing was quite unexpected and has cast a pall of gloom over the entire district. Deceased was born on the homestead, where he lived all his life, the son of John Paul and his wife, Sarah McPherson, pioneer residents of Ramsay. He was 72 years of age. Many years ago he was married to Miss Isobel Yuill, who died nine years ago. To this union were born two daughter and two sons, who survive, (Elsie) Mrs Frank Pollock of Walkerville, Ont; Elva Paul of Toronto; John of Chicago and Norman of "Mount Blow Farm," Ramsay. There also survive, two brothers and one sister, David Paul of Tacoma, Wash; James M. Paul of Gull Lake, Sask; and Eddie B. Paul of Montreal. Some four years ago Mr Paul was married to Miss Jessie M. Afflick of Middleville, who survives him. Mr Paul was a devout member of Bethany United Church, being an elder here for many years. The funeral was held from his late farm home, to the Auld Kirk cemetery, on Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, Rev C.D. McLellan of Bethany United Church, conducted the services. The pallbearers were Andrew Yuill, Robert Yuill, Frank Paul, Frank Pollock, Melville Paul and Norman Paul.
