  	1938, thursday September 1, The almonte Gazette front page ?b?Miss Mary Elizabeth Lang?/b? The death occurred in new York City on Monday, August 29th, of Miss Mary Elizabeth Lang. She was born in Almonte on May 12th, 1870, a daughter of the late Alexander and Janet (Smith) Lang. Educated in the local schools she trained for a nurse in Paterson, N.J. and for the last 40 years had been a resident of New York city. She is survived by a sister, Mrs James Bennett of Almonte The remains arrived in Almonte, on Wednesday, accompanied by a nephew Mr Ralph H Cockroft of Woonsocket, R.I. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery this Thursday afternoon, a service at the graveside being conducted by Rev William Aird, pastor of Almonte Baptist Church. Old Almonte friends were in attendance as well as Mr and Mrs Herb Smart and Mr and Mrs Asa Smith of Renfrew.
