By the taking of the 1901 Census, James aged 65 was widowed and living with his daughter Phoebe aged 33 and William John aged 29. They were living in Chesley, Bruce County Ontario.
In 1911, the Census records James Davie aged 72 and his son William John were living on Mill Street in Chesley, Ontario.
The 1921 Census records James Davie aged 85, living with his daughter and son-in-law, Phoebe McDonald aged 54 and Donald McDonald aged 55 on Main Street, Chesley, Ontario.
James died at home in Chesley, Ontario. The cause of death listed on the death register was Myocarditis.
