  	John D. Turner, Sr., 92, retired Grand Forks, ND water superintendent, died early Sunday morning in a Billings nursing home of a stroke. He was born Jan. 2, 1874 in Canada, son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Turner, and came to Grand Forks with his parents at the age of 12. He married Georgianna Fadden at Grand Forks in October 1895. He operated a sash and door factory and later served as water superintendent, retiring in 1948. He served as a Grand Forks alderman eight years. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and member of Elks Lodge at Grand Forks. In 1948 he moved to Spokane where he lived until coming to Billings in 1962. Mrs. Turner died here in August 1963. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Billings. Surviving are three sons, J. Harry Turner of 222 Fairpark Drive, John D. Turner, Jr., of 1512 St. John's Ave., and Lyle P. Turner of 1824 Wyoming Ave.; a daughter, Mrs. J.P. Finlay of Spokane; brother, James E. Turner of Grand Forks, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm Tuesday in Dahl-Brown Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Billings Gazette - Jan. 31, 1966 Page 11
