    Beloved husband of Joyce for 58 years. Elmer was the youngest of 6 to Ernest and Jean. Predeceased by brothers Boyd, Melvin, Eric, Carl and sister Edna. He will be greatly missed by daughters Norma (Martin) Richards, Lorna (Shawn) McElroy, Eleanor (Rod) McLean, Doreen. Proud grandfather to Daryll (Jenessa), Deanna (Duncan), Tina, Mitchell (Brianna), Jodi, Emily (Gareth), Mikayla and Chloe (and their Dad Bob). Great-grandfather to Laska, Eden, Haylyn, Willow, Ivy, Raine, Rogan and Ash. He will be fondly remembered by many friends.

    Funeral will be held at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home & Chapel, 19 McArthur Ave., Carleton Place with visitation Sunday, March 5th from 1 - 3 pm and Monday, March 6th from 11 am -12 noon with service to follow at 12 noon . Refreshments to follow the service. A graveside ceremony will be held in the spring.

    Special thanks to Dr. Ray and all of the support staff at Almonte General Hospital.

    Miss Jean Agnes Peacock
    The death occurred in Ramsay on Wednesday morning, June 3rd,, of Miss Jean Agnes Peacock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Peacock, who passed away following an illness of some duration. The young lady had been a great sufferer from arthritis for some time but the end came suddenly and came as a great shock to her many friends. Deceased was born in Lanark township 18 years ago and when but a small child moved with her parents to Ramsay to reside. She was of a bright, cheerful disposition and was dearly beloved by all with whom she came in contact. She was a very popular, kind and sympathetic young lady and was held in the highest esteem and respect by all who had the extreme pleasure of knowing her. Besides her sorrowing parents she is survived by three brothers and five sisters. The sisters are Misses Caroline, Annie, Katie, Lena, Muriel, and the brothers are, Wilbert, Everett and Mervin. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from her parents residence at 2 o'clock to the Auld Kirk cemetery. Rev. Jas. Foote, of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church, Carleton Place, conducted the services. The sympathy of a host of friends join in extending; deepest sympathy.

    Annie Evelyn McArthur died July 20 in the Almonte General Hospital after being ill for two months. She was 77. The Country street apartment-dweller was born Aug 12, 1914 to the late George Peacock and the late Anne Munro. She was married the late Alex S. McArthur July 11, 1936. She is survived by sons Stuart of Hudson, Que., James of Surry, B.C., Clare of Ottawa, Gordon of Almonte, daughters Anne Lowe of Ottawa, Catherine Ethel Pringle of Ottawa, Mary Warren of Ottawa, Dorothy Woods and Diane Little of Wawa. She is also survived by brothers Wilbert of Carp and Nelson of Armstrong B.C. and sisters Caroline Ethel Donaldson of Almonte, Lena Rhodey of Pakenham and Murial Wark of R.R. 1 Almonte. She was predeceased by son Keith, daughter Linda, brother Everette and sisters Katie Paterson and Jean Peacock. The funeral service was held at the Gamble Funeral Home July 24 at 2 p.m. Carson Wallace and George Poole led the service at the Gamble Funeral Home. Burial was at the Auld Kirk Cemetery.     News of the death of Mrs Wilbert Paterson in the Rosamond Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 28, was received with deep regret. Mrs Paterson was in her 34th year and her death resulted from a cerebral haemorrhage which she suffered two weeks ago. Born in Lanark Township, her maiden name was Catherine Peacock and she was a daughter of George Peacock and his wife, Annie Munro, who now live on the 7th line of Ramsay Township. Mrs Paterson attended the local schools and all her life was spent in this community. On April 9, 1948, she married to Wilbert Paterson, 6th line of Ramsay Township, who survives. Besides her husband she leaves her father and mother, three brothers and four sisters: Wilbert of Carleton Place; Everett and Nelson of Prince George, B.C.; Carrie, Mrs Vernon Donaldson of Lanark; Annie, Mrs Alex McArthur of Ramsay Township; Lena of Welland and Muriel, Mrs Melville Wark of Clayton.     We regret to announce the passing of Nelson Mervyn Peacock on February 11th, 2008 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Nels was born December 22nd, 1926 in Carleton Place, Ontario. He moved to Prince George in 1947, where he met and married the love of his life, Wilma, who predeceased him in April 2007. They moved to Armstrong in 1975 and retired to Vernon in 1995. Nels is survived by his children, Judy (Ray) Arnoldus, Allan Peacock, Laurie Peacock (Dan Proulx), Bruce Peacock, Gayle (Darrell) Knorr, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his sister, Muriel Wark and his faithful companion, Nikki. The family would like to thank the staff of Coldstream Meadows, the IHA Home Care Nurses and the staff on 3 West for the wonderful care they provided our Dad. In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial donations in memory of Nelson Peacock may do so to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.

    Alexander Herbert Hazelwood of Almonte, Ontario passed away on September 29, at the age of 85. After a valiant fight with cancer, Alex died peacefully surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Annie (McGee-Hartman).

    Alex was born in Mattawa to parents Herbert & Esther Hazelwood on May 6, 1937. His family moved to the farm when he was around the age of 7 and lived alongside his grandparents, Alexander & Delilah Munro. His siblings were Gordon, Donald [Deceased] (Marjorie Richards) Della [Deceased] (Gerald Clark), Clarence (Gwen Byers), Keith [Deceased] (Donna MacLean), Garry [Deceased] (Audrey Smith) and Isabelle (Wallace Eady). Alex married Jean (Gray) in 1957. Jean died of cancer in 1991.

    At the age of 54 Alex was fortunate to meet and marry Annie who has stayed by his side over the past 30 years.

    He is survived by his children Donna (Kevin Hunter) Linda (Randy Brown), Susan, Diane, Bill (Kim Alexson), Nancy, Michael (Tafline Triska) and Timothy. He is survived by his stepchildren Helen (Tom Gray) and Paul (Cathy Hagon). Annie has the following step children: Judy (Earl Kerr), Sandra (Tony Linardic), Dolores (Bob Trask), Nancy (Len Stroeder), Brenda ( deceased) ( Richard Haines), Louie (Shelley) Hartman. There are 19 grandchildren.

    Alex leaves behind 23 Grandchildren, (Jason, Alana, Tara, Rachel, Miranda, Abigail, Shad?, Kaylee, KatieSue, Ashley, Aaron, Shianna, Riley, Dylan, Jonathon, Jordan, Maverick, Lawson, Chace, Matthew, Rebecca, Andrew, Emily) and 13 Great Grandchildren (Kaysa, Dax, Chloe, Judah, Isola, Coco, Patience, Jeremy, Hunter, Zoe, Ford, Mason, Mariana).

    The death of Keith Melvin Foster of 80 Linwood Street, St. Catharines, occurred on Saturday, September 6th, 1975, at his residence. He was in his 31st year. Born in Almonte on September 18th, 1944, he was the son of Melvin Foster and Olive Bolger of Almonte, who survive him. Keith was educated locally at S.S.#9 and at Almonte High School. He worked at General Motors in St. Catharines and attended the United Church there as well. He is survived by his parents; by sisters Marion, (Mrs. Peter Ireland) of Queenston; Shirley, (Mrs. Robert Yach) of Munster; and by brother Glen at home. Also surviving are nephews Christopher and Terry Ireland and one niece Julie Yach. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11th at 2 o'clock with interment in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Rev. Robt. J. McCrea officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Clement, Michael Gleeson, Brian McGregor, Jimmy Foster, Earl Foster and Brian Bolger.

    The death occurred Monday, February 6th, 1967, at Kingston General Hospital after a short illness of Linda Elizabeth McArthur, beloved daughter of Mr and Mrs Alex McArthur, in her 10th year. She was born at Almonte March 20th, 1957 and attended school at S.S. No 6, Ramsay. Left to mourn her loss are her mother and father, five sisters and five brothers: Anne, Mrs David Lowe of Brockville; Ethel, Mrs Bruce Pringle of Ottawa; Mary, Mrs David Lackey of Oshawa; Dorothy and Diane at home; Stuart, of Hudson, Que; James of Ottawa; Keith, Clare and Gordon at home. The funeral service was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 8th, at 2.20 p.m. The service was conducted by Mr George Poole. Interment was in Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were John Cochran, Alan Giles, Frank Lackey, Carman Munro, Harold Stuart and John Morin.

    The district was saddened last Thursday, March 12th, to learn, that the infant daughter Grace Elaine (McKirdy), of Mr. and Mrs. Delmer E. McKirdy of Galbraith had passed away, aged one year, eight months and six days. Born at Almonte, the little babe had from birth a life of suffering. However she was a good-natured child, loveable and very affectionate. She loved music, pictures and playing with her toys. She will be greatly missed by the multitude of friends who knew and loved her. Surviving to mourn her loss are her parents, sister Cheryl and brothers Robert and Bryan. The funeral service was held at her home on Sunday, March 15th, with over 200 relatives and friends attending. Mr. Oscar Waterbury of Toronto officiated. Five friends sang "Precious Thought." Interment was in Clayton Mausoleum. Pallbearers were four cousins, Misses Marion Munro, Kathryn McKirdy, Muriel and Wilma Molina. Relatives attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Noland and son of Manitoulin Island; Mrs. A. Gillespie of Sherbrooke, Que.; Mrs. L. Bell of Sawyerville, Que. and Miss Stella Beane of Montreal. Other relatives and friends attended from Oshawa, Picton, Napanee, Kingston, Montreal, Brockville, Arnprior, Renfrew, Ottawa, Winchester and North Hatley, Que.

    Obituary:?tab?MORTON, Brenda Lee - Suddenly as a result of an accident on Wednesday January 4th, 2012 at the age of 47 years. Beloved spouse and friend of Tim Marsh. Cherished mother of Christina Deckert (Patrick), Belinda Saulnier (David), Aleesha Morton (Jordan). Much loved grandma of Jayden & Owen. Loving daughter of Audrey & the late Garry Hazelwood. Survived by her siblings Nada Webb (Robbin), Mike (Jennifer) and John (Ping). Fondly remembered by parents in law Dennis & Barb Marsh. Brenda will be lovingly remembered by all of her family and her many friends. The family will receive friends at the WEAVER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - East Chapel, 29 Bay St., Trenton on Sunday January 8th, 2012 from 5-8 PM and again on Monday January 9th, 2012 from 12 - 1 PM. Funeral Service will follow in the East Chapel at 1 PM. Rev. Gordon Hazelwood officiating. Cremation following. Interment will be held at a later date at Mount Evergreen Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Quinte Humane Society (cheques only) would be appreciated by the family. Graveside service will take place Saturday, December 13th at 12:30 pm at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660 - 72nd Ave., Surrey, BC. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at The Free Presbyterian Church of Cloverdale, 18790 - 58 Ave., Surrey.
