    "0ne of Beckwith's old and highly esteemed residents in the person of Mr William H Shail passed away on Saturday night last from heart trouble. He retired apparently as well as usual Saturday night at nine o'clock and shortly before ten his daughter, noticing something wrong, rushed to his bedside and saw that he had passed away.

    "Deceased was born in Drummond township in the year 1838 and was thus in his 80th year. Coming to Beckwith when but three years of age, this township has been his home until his removal by death. liOn September 4th, 1878, he as married at Lyndhurst, Ont, to Ann Eliza Morris, who predeceased him nine years ago. To them were born a family of seven children, four boys and three girls. Two boys and one girl are deceased, The living are Manford of Pembroke, Ont; Sadie, Mrs Herb Griffith of Black's Corners, and James E and Katie on the homestead. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and two sisters and two brothers: Mrs Wm Coleman of Ramsay; Mrs David Redaway Oregon City; and Ephraim and David in Beckwith.

    In loving memory of Deborah (Debbie) Darlene Roy (nee Lowe), at the age of 69. Debbie passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Friday, September 24th, with family by her side. Debbie was a lifelong resident of Carleton Place and will be forever missed by her family and many friends. Daughter of the late Irene (Shail) and the late Allan Lowe. Loving wife of 49 years to Gilles Roy. Mom to her precious daughters, Koraleigh Roy, Vanessa (Sean) Lamothe, and Stacey (Desmond) Devoy. Nana to Haven and Tye Lamothe, & Michaela and Loughlin Devoy.
